SCW - Battle Report
« on: February 03, 2009, 06:57:48 PM »
Early 1937, a small village near the Puebla de Valverde, Aragon

A small Republican force as there is a garrison of ammunition depots from which caters to all troops within a radius of 40 km.

The priest Ignacio Peries, a priest of the area, quickly sending messages to the National troops closest  alert on the importance of that position. Some of these messages were able to pass but others were intercepted and the priest was taken prisoner by the Reds.
General Mola decided to send a small contingent of  requetes and Moroccan regulars to the rescue of Father Ignatius and to take the magazine.

The forces consist of the following

Republicanos

1 squad of 10 international brigade (trained) with 1 light machine gun.
1 squad of 10 Militiamen anarchists (green),  with 4 grenades.
1 section of heavy machine guns with 5 international brigade with 1 heavy machine gun  (Veterans).

Franquistas

1 squad of 10 requetes (trained)
1 squad  of 10 Moros (trained) with 1 light machine gun
1 squad of 5 requetes (elite) with 4 grenades
1 section  of heavy machine guns with 5 requetes with 1 heavy machine gun (Veterans).

Except sections of heavy machine guns, all the rest are under the command of an NCO.
Defenders (Republicans) can carry out preparatory work for areas of coverage.

The objectives of the national side are taking the powder keg and rescue the cure of which are unaware of the precise location where he is captive.
The Republicans have shot the priest before turn 10 and prevent the opponent take the magazine.
The fulfillment of each objective provides a score according to their difficulty. Moreover, each side receives victory points for each opponent dead.

Defenders unfold hidden.
Brigadistas inside the ammunition depot.

Militiamen (guarding Priest) inside the house.

machine gun ready. They begin the game by grounding body ,models which are not deployed at the beginning of the game.

All these units deployed hidden and make known their position if they move or shoot.

The game starts. On the left flank of requetes jump the fence and begin what appears to be a breakthrough phased in conjunction with the regular moros.

In the middle section of the national deployment of machine guns and elite requetes moved quickly to seek the protection of a small forest nearby.

While all this happens in the village do not see any movement and everything remains in the most absolute silence.

Curiously the Moors "forget" do their part in advancing phased staying behind the fence, leaving  the requetes of the left flank is increasingly close to the village and with no support nearby.
However, these guys are still determined to advance, "Por Dios, la Patria y el Rey" Sergeant Gomez Arralde harangue ... and to reach the edge of town ...

... where they are received by the hail of bullets and grenades they tip the militia who are in the house, causing 2 deaths and 2 injuries. The requetes that remain responsive fire as possible.
The heavy machine gun position in the forest and from there made fire coverage, blind to not see any enemy, to protect his fellow elite track ...

... in an ever more desperate race against time to save the life of Father Ignatius.
Roars into town for the first time the heavy machine gun of rebelling its international position but made two requests to offend elite.

Departing from their slumber the Moors "do something" for the first time in battle, particularly  open fire against  republican heavy machine gun is by far and you get nothing.
Unbeliever, the alferez Mohamed ali Seineldin, who can not fight getting his subordinates minimally well, yelling "there, there" pointing toward the house from which he requetes to rain fire from the left flank ...

... but these brave young men continue their advance, more and more slow ... Since the number of wounded continues to grow, even so, most able to enter the yard of the house.

Realizing that the enemy is already very close, the place that gives commands to the international order "Avantti" ... is an Italian communist named Mariano Dalla Libera, nicknamed the "mad" by his comrades ... Here we see him and his section of the magazine out and bet on the barricade of sandbags.

In the center of the field two heavy machine guns engaged in a duel that will last the rest of the battalla and that resulted in the end, with one  brigadista  dead and one Requete wounded and other dead.
While all this happens in the elite section, which is moving quite slowly because some of its members are injured, jump the fence of stone and seek protection behind the walls of the house.

On the other hand, inside the house occupied by the militia is a tragedy: Father Ignacius is killed.

Ignore what just happened in the house, the requetes, almost at the limit of their strength, they come to attack it boldly, firing I trying to enter through the windows.

But they are repelled by the militia and by the fire side to them that the international left the magazine, and without strength, and with nearly half of its troops killed (and those still standing half injury) post fleeing.

Noting the ineffectiveness of their shots and the desperate situation of the requests, the regular Morocco jump the fence and go forward a few meters to some militiamen firing from the house and others in the international heavy machine gun, and fails to cause any harm .

The requetes in flight but they regrouped after a new download of bullets by the militia fell two more soldiers and disband the rest for no more fighting.
In town, corporal Dalla Libera "the mad" orders change both the target and light machine gun and rifle fire on the moors causing two deaths

Moroccans, in turn, continue shooting at the house, killing, this time if,  an anarchist

In the right flank  the elite section of the house looking around unsuccessfully Priest Ignacius unknown because it has already been shot and left inadvertently in the heart of the battle.
In the middle , duel between heavy machine guns continued ...

and in the left flank  the things it definitely complicates by the nationals: the Moors, having advanced a few meters but the militiamen fired without cause even a single low, who in turn, together with the brigade of the magazine, I descerrajan a torrent fire deaths fell 4 Moors more, including the poor alferez Mohamed Ali Seineldin and servers the light machine gun, which makes half the survivors are back and running out

It is at this point that, given that two of the units have lost all capacity to the section of heavy machine guns decimated and is something that the elite unit is far from where the action, players of the national side accept defeat and the game ends.

The end result was:

Republicans: 46 victory points (two goals and achieved their elimiraron or disbanded soldiers to 17 enemies, including suffered Alferez Mohamed Ali Seineldin).
National: 4 Victory Points (zero goals and only killed one militiaman and a brigadista).

The rules are a homemade system. It was a  very fun and dynamic game.

Sorry for my bad english!!!!
Greetings and thanks for reading.

Proper job!

I love your figures, especially the Moorish fellows and the Carlist Requetes. They make for a very colourful game, which is unusual in a 20th Century conflict.

Nice one.  :)

Very nice report!
Yes a very colourful era!

Just a small question: How you distinguish elite requetes from the trained ones [I mean visually during the game]

Hi guys,
thanks for your kind comments.
Argsilverson: the elite Requetes are the small squad ( 5 miniatures), displayed next to those black and brown truck, in the 9° pic.
Driscoles: briefly,  our rules allow to play simultaneously, a turn is divided into 4 phases: recovery, maneuvers, shooting, melle. At the beginning of each phase players must place a small card next to each squad. When you have placed all their cards to make them come back (all players at the same time), each card indicates the actions chosen by the player to their squads. Then perform these actions: assault, run, move and shoot, retreat, etc...
In other respects the rules are more typical, including  moral test, rules for vehicles, support weapons, etc... a simple and fast game.
Thanks for your interest.
Greetings
