CONGO - How is your rulebook holding up? (UPDATE: problem solved)
« on: September 21, 2016, 10:31:46 PM »
So, my Congo Rulebook is starting to show signs of coming apart in the binding. Still intact, but I've bee ultra-careful with it. I'm a little put off, I have to say, especially for what I paid for it. Haven't even played the game yet? I hate having a sour taste for a game I haven't played and I'm so excited by.

Anyone else having issues, or did I end up with the dud?

I have been very careful with mine for the same reason.  No signs of coming apart yet, but somehow it feels fragile and I worry!

I'm still undecided on this rule set, but this is a worrying issue ,if the books are going to fall apart, especially at the price of them  :(

Update - It seems I do indeed have a dud. And Studio Tomahawk, after seeing my post, responded with lightning speed to fix the issue! So please don't let my isolated incident of bad luck make you hesitate getting into CONGO. The layout, design, and robustness of the pages, handouts, and counters is top shelf.

Thanks for a quick resolution Studio Tomahawk  :)

I have to say that given the high sticker price it is very concerning to have 2 different posters comment on the quality of the binding for Congo. Before I take the final plunge I'd ask that other players who own the book report on the durability of the book itself.
Thanks in advance.
Prof Challenger, I presume?

I have only looked through the book 3 or 4 times, but so far mine is looking to hold up fine.

I have not done much more than thumb through my recently arrived copy but it doesn't seem particularly fragile or defective.

Encouraging response from ST to replace so promptly!

The content is first rate and I'm sure you would be wowed by the look of it all.  As for the binding, what can I say?  I am a worrier, and if you have a cold I suspect I will catch it! It feels fragile to me, partly perhaps because it looks so good that I almost don't want to turn the pages.  But the reassuring thing is that ST responded quickly to replace what was evidently a duff copy. I think you will consider the rules well worth it if you take the plunge, bearing in mind they come with tokens, measuring sticks and the cards as well as very attractive presentation.

And no, I haven't been nobbled by ST!  :)

It's a good job us 'Little Generals' have that undying code of honour which prevents us taking tactical advantage of something like this. Last thing we want is some unscrupulous Flash 'Arry type slipping the Congo-Bongos a crippler/powder isn't it?
Jet, be a good chap, old bean, and give old Harry their contact address.
