Stargate Miniature project: Completed
« on: September 29, 2016, 10:02:16 AM »
I've just started a new project... Stargate!

There's more info over on my blog:
https://cruciumgiger.blogspot.co.uk/…/start-of-new-project-…

However one of the things I'm stuck on is that originally I created profiles for these using the DWMG rule set (which I still love) however with the release of 7TV second edition I'm wondering should I start from scratch using this? If so any ideas on what profiles to use etc?

I'll be honest I've never played 7TV (really should give it a go sometimes) however just to complicate things I would do a stargate game in Pulp Alley for sure! The dynamic combat, plot point resolution and resource mechanics just fit in so well with the serialised nature of SG1. In fact the first Pulp Alley campaign, perilous island, would translate perfectly to stargate!

I've not read Pulp Alley, I'll have to give it a look sometime

The Go'uld are from Crocodile Games, the First Prime, heavy weapons and Stargate are the old official Miniatures from Phoenix, the Jaffa are from MJ Figures and the SG teams are from Hasslefree.

Very cool, and it looks like you are off to a great start.

I never could get into Stargate the TV series, but I loved the movie.

Can't wait to see what you come up with.

The miniatures are listed on Ebay.

I still have the Monolith designs Stargate and a set of the SG1 Team that Jim Bowen sculpted and painted.

Lots of people use the Crocodile games miniatures for this setting and they work really well.

Re 7TV - The second edition points system means that as long as you balance each side you should be fine. My Stargate Fu is weak, but you have the Sinister Mystic or Otherworldly Invader Stars to lead your villains, but others might work too depending on what Extras you want to use for your base troops.

The Army genre would be a good place to start for the heroes - Military Mind, Crackpot Inventor maybe?

these looking good, I highly recommend 7TV2 for this, is plays very fast and it's easily modded. Works really well too for small games suited to SG1
