What are you working on for 2017?
« on: October 03, 2016, 02:00:11 AM »
Based n a thread in THW forum this what I have in work for the rest of 2016 and 2017.

Active:

1.  Preparing miniatures for two games in November at a con: 25mm VSF IHMN - Tarzan, Sheena, Jane Badall, and The Mad Belgian Hunter forces - and 3mm WW1 Dawn Patrol.

2.  Rationalizing "legacy" 25mm armies (that means reducing by selling or giving away or, if necessary, trashing,) which is taking some time since we have already excessed all the 1000 plus of "it will never get painted and played" figures.  Pushing back next "give away" until 2017 due to the con games.  Looks like the Denizen Dwarf warband is on the cutting block for sure.

3.  Painting/have others painting 15mm Fantasy/Science Fiction/VSF/Colonial figures to replace 25mm figures.

Follow up:

4.  Looking for 15mm Historical game.  Unfortunately no Soldados de Cuera or Presidials in this size currently.

5.  Finish having painted the 3mm air forces for 1914 - 1979.

Complete a tidy up of my 12mm Kallistra armies and then start a new pair, most likely French / Austrian in Pendraken 10mm, but also thinking of 1066 armies.

Big plans! I am starting  28mm wargaming again from scratch so I can play games in my own place. So far have got a 4 x 4 table, and made some modular terrain pieces. Next thing will be some trees. Painting some British units that will do double duty for colonial or VSF games. No real deadlines, but hope to get a good amount done by New year.
I am going to build a wargames army, a big beautiful wargames army, and Mexico is going to pay for it.

2019 Painting Challenge :
figures bought: 500+
figures painted: 57
9 vehicles painted
4 terrain pieces scratchbuilt

1. Continuing work for our Frostgrave games. So adding more and more creatures and scenery.

2. Painting scenery for Chrome Warriors for Poldercon (February 2017). This is a hard deadline and a lot must be done...so I need to keep on hobbying!

Continuing building up my Game of Thrones themed forces with a view to finally getting some games in, and without resorting to using proxies!

1. Citadel AD&D and Otherworld plus a dungeon.
2. Aztecs, a giant force purely for painting pleasure.
3. Cavemen for Tribal.
4. Get the Norse army finally completed and take it to Oldhammer Weekend in 2017!

Well for 2017, it's gonna be mainly designing more and more 18 mm fantasy figurines.
Also painting my orcs and dwarves warbands and more as they come home  :)
Also starting my modular board and maybe a modular dungeon/cavern

Well, I find hard deadlines are bad for my hobbying, but I'm mainly working on my late Romans at the moment. I have vague plans for terrain (viking era houses and trenches for my WWI/II), and I'm also waiting on the Conan kickstarter.

A good thread topic this! I think I will come back to it with updates on how I get on. Which might prove embarrassing but ho hum.

Primary

  • Complete small 28mm sci fi infantry force to represented grizzled local defence forces of some grimdark far future world  ::)
  • Round out a small 28mm cultist force.
  • Add flagship and massed escorts to my Ork Battlefleet Gothic force.
  • Add several cruisers, multiple escorts and make some minor touch ups to my Imperial BFG forces.

Secondary

  • Add more survivors, military types and zombies to my 28mm zombie apocalypse
  • Paint up BFG Necron fleet
  • Paint up BFG Tau fleet using GZG UNSC models
  • Paint up giant Martian Tripod from Rebel Minis using base as a mini diorama

It seemed pretty achievable until I wrote it all down. Good luck everyone!

2017 plans...

More work on my Mesoamerican project - two big sticking points at the moment, the easiest one is 'what rules'

Looking forward to the production of plastic Early Imperial Romans by Victrix - my lovely wife has wanted to do a Boudicca revolt for a while now, just need suitable Britons after that

Getting my Spanish Civil War project on the table - slowly painting up 1/72 figures

And odd stuff just to distract me from the above     ;)

Honestly? Getting anything done for myself. Can't seem to get moving on my figures or terrain at all since other stuff has been stealing my attention since July.

Blimey!

We are only in October now.
I could change my mind a dozen times before we even get to 2017.

1. Finishing a few more units and getting terrain for a 15mm SYW game (not strictly historical), and finishing my half-baked rules.

2. Painting for some Pulp Alley and Darkest Africa games. Probably the more fun of my three current projects.

3. Painting more 1:2400 scale WW1 naval, a project I failed to complete before the anniversary of Jutland.
Sailors have more fun!

I have already decided on some projects for 2017:

Organise my Shadowrun figures for using with the HINT game (and paint any extras needed)

Add more sections and drop in scenery to my 28mm Dungeon/Caverns sets

Continue painting 28mm figures for 1st Afghan War and Darkest Africa games with Triumph & Tragedy.

Depending on when figures/games from various outstanding Kickstarter campaigns finally arrive I may spend some time with 28mm Fantasy and Gothic Horror pieces, and if an AWOL member of our club decides to pick up the hobby again I will have a Division of 15mm Carlist War figures to paint.

All that assuming I actually get finished with the projects intended for 2016!
