Like you be making allies and foes for these fine mercenaries?
"Peace" is that brief, glorious moment in history when everybody stands around reloading.

Thank you!

Ground recipe as is:

Vallejo textured paste of any color (I use grey, because it was the only one available at our local store at the time) + some roughly cut pieces of vine/champaigne cork for small stones.
Paint it with rich yellow color (Citadel Foundation "Yanden Darksun" for example), stones are painted with any mid-grey color. After it is absolutely dry, wash it with strong brown wash/ink (I use Vallejo "Smokey Ink").
Then subsequently drybrush with Iraqi Sand and Pale Sand. Add some grass/bushes/scrub.

This method is quite quick and requires lesser brushwork than usual.

to commissarmoody:

Yes, I'll make some antagonists/part-time antagonists  :D soon.
In fact, now I'm interested in conception of small themed forces, that can be added to each other or be placed against each other if neccessary.

Need some guys who are tough-as-nails, while also being cheap-as-nails? Here they are - hired dalmatian infantry under Zaran knight Onufry Wotanowich. If you wish to assault something, rob something or burn something - they can do it with quality and pleasure (not for free of course).

Nice painting. You have given them slightly older armour and equipment which would probably work from a country that would not have been as up to date as the Italian or Western European mercenaries (Swiss/Landsnekts etc).

Yes, I tried to give 'em a bit of old-school and eastern look.

Splendid work. I like them very much. The scale armour Fireforge sergeants bodies work surprisingly well with the WOTR components to create a more exotic looking faction. Nice kitbashing  :)

Many thanks!!!

Now, we have some cruel and vicious raubritters, bandits and robbers of noble origin, who constantly roam roads, villages and even small towns of Upper and Lower Silesia, sowing crime, fear and destruction.

Here comes Armin Rotenberg from castle Rotenberg, infamous leader of one of these powerful gangs. His enameled red armor makes him a notable figure on a battlefield. He is accompanied by his chief jaeger and scout Udo, suspicious old drunkard and rapist, who is also very able with crossbow and hunting spear. Trusted hound Plato is also present.

Regular Armin's companion in all those raids and robberies - his younger brother Bruno Rotenberg, great enthusiast of  pinning someone with ahlspiess, together with his son - Bruno Rotenberg Jr. Youngster is not as vicious as his ancestors, but nonetheless, enjoys running down panicking victims or striking them precisely with a falchion/javelin. He's a sportive guy.

I love the painting. Any tips for someone trying to experiment with a similar style? Do you just work up from a black undercoat or block in colours first and wash then paint up? Any tips on colour choices for base vs highlight colours?

And now for something completely different (c)

Medieval band! Rockin' your inns and crop fields!

to Goliad:
Color of undercoat depends of the model's "main" color. I prefer black for heavily armored guys and black horses, grey for miniatures dressed in undyed linens, and red-brown undercoat for everything else.
Also I don't usually use washes, except on brown/grey color after undercoating to provide some additional depth. Ah, I wash armor sometimes, if it looks too glossy.
