Hello from Vancouver
« on: October 05, 2016, 11:55:54 PM »
Hello everyone. Though I've read this board for a while, I finally decided it was time to sign up and show my face around here. I was introduced to wargaming via Warhammer Fantasy 3rd edition back in the late 80s/early 90s, but then (after losing my figures in a move) I got out for quite a while before getting back in about 3 years ago. Started up again with Warhammer (then in its 8th edition), but soon became interested in a wider variety of games, from the reprinted Knights & Magick by Heritage, to Warlord Games' Hail Caesar/Black Powder family, to the various "small games" of Osprey such as Lion Rampant, etc (also been reading a lot of Featherstone and that crowd).

My primary love remains Skaven (or other Ratmen, in both 28mm and the 10mm variety), but I've also got an army of 1/72 Celts and Napoleonic Prussians, a 25mm 30 years war-era Scottish/British army, and I have a active interest in the Oldhammer community in general (wherein some posters here may know me from), so Zoats, Fimir, and Jes Goodwin Elves sit in rather large "to-paint" piles.

I'm currently writing my own rules-set (as I am wont to do, coming from a background in RPG design), and am working on getting my paint skills to the highest standard I can manage.

I guess I should show off some of my stuff, as that seems to be the custom. As I said, its only been about three years (with time being at a premium between work and school), so "high tabletop standard" is about the best I hope for, but here's a few of the things I've done I'm most proud of:

Welcome to LAF
Hope you enjoy your stay  :)
Yearly painting challenges only show me how useless I am at painting...

Welcome!

Lived in Vancouver for about 5 years before moving out here to Hamilton, Ontario.

Do you game with any of the guys at the Trumpeter Club? I think they're the Trumpeter Tabletop Gaming Society now, but same thing. Really use to enjoy the Friday Game Nights they put on in Burnaby.

Anways, great to see some Squats, some of the only Rogue Trader era figures I never brought when they were coming out. Huge Oldhammer fan myself.

Thanks for sharing the pictures,

Cheers!

Thanks for the warm welcome everyone. :)

Amonglions - amusingly, I lived in Kingston, Ontario before moving out here about 5 years ago. I'm aware of Trumpeteers, follow their website and Facebook group, but haven't made it to a game night yet, mainly just timing with school and work. There's another group out here as well..."CHOP". I went to one of their gatherings, but so far mostly just play with a small group of friends who I also roleplay with.

Well welcome to the group here. I will look forward to seeing more from you in the future. As someone that lives about halfway between the 2 Vancouvers, I am interested in knowing which one are you located in. There is a vibrant gaming community in both, where I have a number of friends.
