Square basing for CoC or Bolt Action
« on: November 16, 2016, 03:41:06 AM »
My troops are all based on 20mm square bases. What problems would I have playing either Chain of Command or Bolt Action with my figures based on square bases?

Thanks

None to my knowledge.

Bolt action v2 now uses bases for measuring so it might be inconvenient

just need to use the same bases on both side  ;)

If it's not a torney don't worry at all.

Our rules allow a slide of an inch so you don't get into that "measuring to the last micrometre" jam sandwich :)  If a rule set wants base to base measuring, base sizes for everything have to be specified and used by all lest the Napoleonic debate of troop frontages and base sizes transfers to the much more civilised WW2 genre .... ;)

Chain of command doesn't specify basing, and works fine with multi-based figures or any shape of single based figures.

Thank you for the replies gentlemen. I have always preferred square bases and I was hoping that I would not need to rebase. Since I do not care to participate in tournaments I believe I am good to go.

Yep won't be a problem.  Even in BA tourneys quite a few people use non-standard basing.  Warlords own stuff comes with oval adn large round bases for stuff!

Paul Sawyer and John Stallard at Warlord offer a base trimming service so call them up and they will round off your square bases for you. Then the Bolt Action police can't get you.

Chain of Command is ok with bases and not competitive like Bolt Action so they don't have a police force.
