Mantic's The Walking Dead, All out War
« on: November 16, 2016, 11:29:14 AM »
We played The Walking Dead Miniatures game for the first time on Monday.

I'd backed it on Kickstarter, so have had it for a couple of weeks now but have been really busy with shows so have only just got around to painting up the first dozen figures and seeing how it plays.

I really liked it and will be updating this thread as I paint for miniatures, make more terrain and play new games.

More photos and stuff on my hobby blog @

That is looking really good. I am about to head off to work, I will have some comments and questions when I get back.

Have a great day

I have really not been a The Walking Dead fan.
I do love zombie games.
But the minis in the photos look great.
May have to take a look at the game.
Thanks for sharing.

Hi Chris

Your terrain looks the treat. Is that all in production Sally 4th Terrain? Also what scale are the cars and trucks? They don't look as overscale as the Mars Attack stuff. Also how do the miniatures compare to the Mantic Mars Attack figures?

But it looks like you had a blast and I like your Warchest idea on how to store the figures.

Hi Matt,

I'm afraid I have never seen Mars Attack, so not sure how scale compares. The Mantic walking dead figures are large 28's, they are beautiful figures and paint up very well. I will take a photo compared to Zombicide, Warlord and Studio miniatures zombies & survivors tonight for a reference.

All of the scenery (boards, buildings, scatter terrain) is in production Sally 4th Items from Terra-Block Urban range: http://wargamesbuildings.co.uk/urban_blocks

The cars and trucks were part of the Kickstarter...not sure of the actual scale
Yearly painting challenges only show me how useless I am at painting...

Heroic 28, so bigger.  But super nice minis!

Cool!

The post-Kickstarter special they had on the website should be here tomorrow. So I will get a chance to check them out close up soon.

If the cars and trucks don't fit with the rest of my terrain there may be a post on the sales board for some of them.

Chris your Terra-Blocks look great. I think there may be a purchase coming up next year. Especially with the new exotic locations you are doing for the pulp range.

Here at Sally 4th we have enjoyed some great games of Mantic's The Walking Dead over the last couple of weeks since we received our Kick-starter edition. What really struck us was how important barriers and objectives are to the games play, so we have put together a special terrain set that we are giving away free with all copies of 'The Walking Dead' ordered through us. The set contains six pieces of four bar wooden fencing, three dual carriage way crash barriers and two packing crates for objectives, one marked 'Danger Explosives' and the other marked 'Fragile Handle With Care' (I hope that contains the vital spares for the generator!).

The set is only available with copies of The Walking Dead and is made from 2mm unpainted MDF. Some simple assembly required.

I have just added them to our modern buildings and roads page as a separate item, so you can order them on their own.

On Tuesday night (20th December 2016), Doug and I had a great little skirmish game using Mantic's The Walking Dead rules.

The encounter took place around an abandoned campsite, by a pleasant stream just off a minor road junction.

We played the basic scenario from the starter set with 150pts (3 characters) per side.
We had a fantastic game, it all worked very well.

Last week Doug and I got to play a third game of Mantic's The Walking Dead.

This time the action was set in a city center, represented with some of the Sally 4th Terra-Block Urban Boards.

Once again, Rick is surprised by a lurker, just when he thought he had recovered some useful supplies, and once again a car alarm goes off drawing in walkers from blocks around!

Their is a full write up with lots more photos on my hobby blog: http://wargamesbuildings.co.uk/The-Walking-Dead-Episode-3

p.s. Peter, the RV in the previous write up is made by TT Combat.

Last Sunday, Lewis and I had a great game of Mantic's The Walking Dead.
The game had a rather dramatic story line, which we have written up as a comic strip on our wargames hobby blog: http://wargamesbuildings.co.uk/TWD5
