Reds get wet feet
« on: February 13, 2009, 07:06:12 PM »
Lord Rawnsley leader of the Staffordshire BUF

says lets have a report on a proper civil war

La Legion advances through the olive grove whilst the Carlist and Falange militia advance swiftly down the adjoining road

Meanwhile the Reds eventually cross the stream and take up position in the fallow field

Whilst coming under heavy fire from the Legion Tercio the Reds are flanked by the Carlist and Falange militia taking heavy casualties and subsequently flee

But where are the Anarchist militia? they took a vote and decided not to get their feet wet until it was too late :)

We were going to use Triumph and Tragedy but Dave forgot his glasses which would have put him at a disadvantage, although it would have been amusing to see which order cards he chose ;) so we finished up using Rapid Fire with the SCW amendments.

After a string of defeats a resounding victory for Franco's boys and an inspiration for their comrades in the struggle against our King's ememies.

Lord Rawnsley

lol lol lol lol lol

You tell 'em!

Smashing. I'm finding the draw of the Spanish Civil War increasingly hard to resist. I've been holding out for a couple of years, but I fear I can't fight it much longer. Must resist, I have too many projects half-finished as it is. Ordered the T&T supplement this week. You are not helping by posting things like this.  :)

Don't fight it any longer Plynkes!

Even after 30+ years of wargaming I never found a more enjoyable period to play. On top of that most of the figures can do double duty in the IWI, ECW3 and many, many others.

No, I shall continue to fight it. Not because I don't want to do it (I very much do), just because I have too much other stuff on the boil.

If I ever finish one of my other projects then the SCW shall take its place.

Very nice report!

I have started collecting SCW minis but:

No, I shall continue to fight it. Not because I don't want to do it (I very much do), just because I have too much other stuff on the boil.

If I ever finish one of my other projects then the SCW shall take its place.

That is the problem!

The stone walls are by The Last Valley.... Enough said.
The SCW is the second most interesting Civil War, after the ACW of course, a long way after. Seriously though, Phil's figures are wonderful and a joy to play with, even when the bl**dy Anarchists won't cross some piddling little stream!

It is an interesting period and one I have looked closer at after the 3rd ECW and my missus bought me a nice book on it for valentines because I was trying to explain my Alernate 1938 project and mentioned the SCW lol

Must get my SCW stuff back out of the cabinet and actually finish painting them.
Trouble is I've sort of sidetracked onto the 3rd ECW from this as I could use a lot of my militia as either.
