New Landship – the HMLS Swiftsure

Anyone remember the two generic Landship hulls I built earlier this year…at the time I collected all the parts for the four interchangeable super structures then got side tracked. Well now I’m back into this project thanks to the recent Denmark Crossing scenario and game. I want to complete all these super structures for a ‘Landship Jutland’ in 2017!

Nope, missed that one. 

Actually, sounds brilliant AND tricky. The whole shared tolerances sounds a bit on the nightmarish side.

I'd say 'better man', but I think that's already established.

Hey Doug thanks!

The whole superstructure swap thing works well! You'll see from the below picture the flat deck of the HMLS Swiftsure ready to be slid into place...



These are a couple of old pictures showing how the deck fits into place. See in the example below with a bit of white stryene substituting for the superstructure it fits in the top of the hull and the two arrows show the way it will slide into place...



After sliding the superstructure forward it is 'locked' into place, you'll see in the picture below in the example the left arrowhead is now hidden in a gap in the hull so it won't fall off...

Ah, makes sense, and you can build in a bit of fudge factor.

Still have to cut in a relatively straight line. Not all of us can, you know.

Nicely done. I'd give them some battle damage, dirty and rust them up, but thats just a personal thing. Keep 'Em coming

But please fix your flag (well one side anyway) - use the mirror function (not just cut and paste). Wargamer with mild OCD, I know - I'm rare.
