Decima MAS (post-armistice) - Update: 03.01.17 - vehicles
« on: December 12, 2016, 10:50:28 PM »
Had to go on a trip to Rome with the Missus and got to visit the strategia nova shop in exchange for visiting pretty much all the churches there (boy do they love building churches... ). So I took the opportunity to buy some of their Social Republic miniatures to make some Decima MAS lads to play Osprey's Black Ops with.

Quality-wise they're a mixed bag, unfortunately but I think they turned out alright.

I obviously had to get the General Staff set, as it includes figures suitable as guards and VIP's to abduct/assassinate.

As far as quality is concerned, this is by far the best set of the bunch I got, and I can wholeheartedly recommend it.

Close up shot of the rather fashion-conscious officer. The sunglasses might be a tad impractical in nighttime raids, but they definitely are a hit with the ladies ;)

And the Black Prince himself:

Soldiers with rifles. I should have been more dilligent in removing moldlines  :?

Next are a couple of SMG-armed guys. As you can see I had a double, so I needed to do a head-swap.

And some specialists. Ended up with 3 of the same figure so I swapped some heads and changed weapons.

Light machine gun teams:

And lastly a heavy machine gun:

Now I only need some vehicluar goodness for them. I already bought a Lancia Aprilia staff car and want to give them some light support vehicle - Currently I'm undecided between an AB 41 and a Lince armored car. I also want to give them a Macchi MC 200 Saetta plane, so I can give the opposition something to blow up and because I always liked that bird.

IMHO, my cousin Beppe who was killed in Mauthausen Lager, and remained in the prison of Turin, "Le Nuove", is very happy we don't see X Mas everyday!
IMHO were partisan, people who died for freedom of their people, that defend Onore d'Italia ... X Mas were fascist!

Is legal publishing this kind of image?

I just chose the title because that slogan was the RSI-motto as far as I know - no political message intended.

Edit: Changed the title, sorry for any offense.

The vehicleissue is settled, since I managed to get a bargain on Ebay for an AB 41 together with a Fiat CR 42 in 1:48 - it's insane how the dual pack sometimes goes for less than either of the models separately.
Anyway, on to the pictures:

Also I've been sitting for a while on this Lancia Aprilia:

I'm unsure what color to give it as I'm torn between black and a more military color - anybody having suggestions?

Black. Makes it look in era (for me) and more useable for other settings.

The AB 41 also looks gritty. Interesting choice of colours - sourced from a photo?

Yeah I think it'llbe black as it's a very elegant vehicle which might look odd in a military color. Problem is, that you never know, unless you try it out ;)

As for the AB 41, yes it is based on a photo:

I just made the splotches a bit bigger, as otherwise I think it'd look too busy.
Ages ago I did RSI Italians for FoW and back then saw a photo of an AB 41 in the above pattern with the Italian flags painted on, but I couldn't for the life of me find that picture again. I should archive that stuff somewhere.  :?
