Farquarson's Army
« on: January 02, 2017, 12:13:38 PM »
" Many ex soldiers, sailors, mercenaries and adventurers flocked to join Allan Farquar-Farquarson's Great Martian Trading Company when he arrived in New Victoria in March 1889. He quickly established a large private army comprising nationalities from across the globe and across the planets as Martians and Earthers united under one flag." Archibold Harris-Hampton. Illustrated London News.January 2nd 1891

Captain Randi Lal. Queen's Own Bombay "Mix" Rifles first met Farquarson whilst serving in the North West Frontier, he soon followed him to Mars on the promise of many riches.

Captain Lal brought with him a small contingent of loyal Sikhs. All excellent shots and drilled in the use of light field pieces like this mountain gun, ideal for use in the harsh mountainous regions of the Martian interior

Farquarson invested heavily in the latest technology and firepower. The Mark 1 Impervious Suit had seen hard service on Venus and was soon adapted for the dry hot climate on Mars. With its Faraday lightning gun and strong armour it was ideal for close quarter fighting with the Sky Martian warriors.
This suit was purchased from the Royal Marines hence the corporal stripes and is crewed by a Naval rating from one of The GMTC ships.

The mountain gun and crew are from Ironclad Miniatures and the Impervious Suit if from Eureka with a Redoubt naval head. Not my finest brushwork, I rushed them a bit before Christmas to get them finished for our next engagement ;)

Looking good - lots of firepower!

Is the walker equipped with giant cricket pads?

Splendid work old chum.

Methinks you are ever so discreetly laying down the gauntlet.

Are fisticuffs imminent?

Are fisticuffs imminent?

I doubt it as that would have to be a low blow, so hardly sporting, eh?.

I love Ironclad Miniatures figures, very nice lot.

Are you sure that armoured suit featuring cricket pads wasn't sourced from the English cricket team circa 1975, I believe they wore them when batting against Lillee and Thomson  :D...
