Checkpoint Post
« on: January 02, 2017, 01:10:39 PM »
Cheers LAFers!

Sharing today my latest sculpt, a checkpoint post in concrete. The original shape is from the "Battlefield Bad Company" game, i redrew it and from there sculpted it by hand.
The work is 98% hand made: the only 3D printed parts are the small air vents and the control panel nearby the door.

The door itself - see the last pic - is a 3D print, but it is not intended as a part of the model.

Here's the initial drawing:

From there, i created the concrete volumes. It required most of the overall time, i'd say.

A scale comparison, with a couple of copplestone figs.

Then, all the plastic parts: windows and frames. Followed by a few cabling and the two 3D elements as said above.
Note the pavementation, all individual tiles. Not sure it was the right thing for the setting, but i rather like the result.

Here's a shot with a door i produced a while ago. Fits in the socket perfectly, i think i'll keep this standardized size for my future sculpts.

Well, here it is! Not a huge model, but completed.
It still hasn't got a buyer, although due to my current collaboration with Spectre Miniatures I'll want to hear from them before looking for another company interested. :)

C&C really welcome, inputs are extremely precious!

Cheers
Jack

That is a truly lovely piece of work. Do you mind if I ask what wire you use for the electric cables? I struggle to find stuff that I can manipulate easy enough to follow walls like that, even when it's quite soft

It's not big, or clever, but let's do it anyway

Thank you all! :)

@Malebolgia, i'm not sure how long you'll have to wait, it really depends on who (see: which company) will take this for casting! :)

@clanmac: It's soldering wire: you can find several diameters online, it ain't cheap for soldering but model-wise it's perfectly affordable. It bends splendidly, although i wouldn't leave it hanging in a gaming piece, as it tends to be a little fragile.

Cheers
Jack

As always a masterpiece! But!!! Mister Perfection you`ve already got some work on the windowframes! The gaps there are annoying compared to the rest of the Model.

Thanks again gents! :)

Thanks Delta! Yeah, the windows aren't the most detailed part of the model, but i don't see what gaps you're referring to? Those were meant as fixed bulletproof windows, so not much detail (no hinges or handles) to add. :S

These gaps I mean. With the black parts I´m unsure if its a black marking or a gap, but non the less compared to the left window it looks not finished to me.

Oh i see! No, those are markings i used to glue the vertical beams in positions. I can assure you, the two windows are identical, with the only difference of the width and the 1 vs 2 partitions. In particular, the two horizontal beams are solid pieces, so no gaps of any sort, but i see what you mean. :)

Cheers
