PB,
Great looking leagues and games.  Really like your terrain.  I think I am going to go work on some of my stuff.

I have been eyeing the Germans in East Africa models out there for a while.  Like what you are doing with them.

Thanks for sharing.

Matt

Round the bend on the Layzee River

The final pulp game of our campaign was based on the Crime Wave Scenario from Pulp Alley.
The setting was the previously peaceful settlement of  Pleasantville where the Swedish pastor  Odd Hassell had founded  a church ministering to the peaceful farming community gathered there.
The tropical idyll had been  ruined when a group of Ruga Ruga set up a tembe on an island in the river  opposite Pleasentville and  though ostensibly leaving Hassell’s flock in peace members of the new neighbours were increasingly inflicting depredations on the settlement.
This was a situation that the colonial  league forces and Tarzan’s Lords of the Jungle were determined to stamp out

Pleasentville nestling gently on a bend of  the Layzee River

The ner-do-well  Witchdoctor Luv N’more holds the princess captive in the island tembe.

The forces set up 2’ apart along the ‘inland’ length of the  board. They each had around  1’ away a depredation to stop to  gain a minor plot plot. There was  a Ruga assaulting a farmer, a dubious character selling suspicious  ‘herbs’ in the market place, a Ruga abusing the good pastor himself and another Ruga  extorting food from helpless villagers. Once the minor plot points had been taken the leagues made for boats (up to 3 characters could fit in the boat) and paddled to the Tembe where a tribal princess  (major plot point) was being held captive. Most of the Ruga were away on a raid  so now was the time for the leagues to strike.
There were 4 random bystander characters but despite a couple of leagues efforts none could be recruited in the game.
Perils were running in the market, fields, the village, scrambling down the banking, wandering cattle and vicious pack animals.
One of the  random events rolled was limited visibility which would help the Lords of the Jungle as they had limited short range shooting whereas the other leagues could target them from afar.
The Lords of the Jungle had two tribal gangs but Tarzan took the Rally ability. This gave the gangs a lot more longevity than they had  had previously and help their league significantly.

The French started by gambling for a dash across the fields to reach their minor plot point. The other leagues  bided their time and periled the follower who was down and out.

Sacrė bleu Mind that clod you clod

Over the next two turns  caporal Camembert saw off the  Ruga who was harassing the farmer and took the plot point whilst Commandant Renault and follower Gaston Le Phew headed for the boat.
This left Camembert and Ally  Ensigne  Truffal to face opposition league members left in Pleasentville.

The Germans moved through the village carefully avoiding the cattle which had caused them so much trouble last game. In two moves they saw off the Ruga who was extorting supplies from the villagers and like the French made for their nearest boat.

The cattle seem drawn to the German characters

Unterofficer  Schnitzelgruber  (ally) fails a peril at the river bank. His health was fine but his  tropical whites suffered some unpleasant  staining!  To add insult to stained  pants Oberst von Schwienkopf and  Lt Gruber sailed off without him.

The Lords of the Jungle took a different approach from previous games. Tarzan actually led from the front rather than striking a pose and oiling his muscles whilst sending his minions in to do the fighting as happened  previously. The Lords were the better for it freeing Paster Hassell from the attentions of the Ruga. Tarzan’s  presence with his Rally ability near the tribe gangs also allowed them to regenerate losses and stay in the game.
Meanwhile Jane  went  to  disrupt the trader selling illicit substances in the market. She failed and was set upon by the British Leader Captain Blackadder being knocked down. Blackadder also failed health and recovery checks and after being ganged up on by   Cheetah, Akeela and Baghera was down to D6 health and decided discretion was the better part of valour. Cheetah took the minor plot point.

Cheetah prevents the selling of illicit ‘herbs’  by eating them.

Blackadder ran into the resurgent Tarzan and came off the worse  eventually being down and out.
The remaining Brits lined up against the Lords of the Jungle  and after several rounds of shooting and melee the weight of the Lords numbers put paid to the British League.

There’s only room for one Lady Jane in this jungle, Lady Jane of the Jungle fights Lady Jane Ponsonby Smythe. Tarzan’s better half made short work of her namesake.

Tarzan takes down Blackadder ( no cunning plans were in evidence) and Baghera attacks the British Askari.

After polishing off the British  the Lords of the Jungle took on the two French characters  remaining on this side of the river. Over 3 turns the tribal gangs ran down Camembert and Truffal and in the final turn Camembert was down and out dropping the plot point he was holding.

With all this going on only the French and Germans got two characters across to the tembe. In a responsible manner they slugged it out amongst themselves ignoring the Major plot point.

Renault and Le Phew  get the better of Sargeant Schultz whilst Von Schwienkopf overcomes the guard  and confronts his nemesis Luv N’more.

Renault and Le Phew  followed into the tembe  but Von Schwienkopf had the first attack.

True to form n Luv N’more was soundly beaten by all comers but   passed  four consecutive health checks and threw some strange powder onto the fire.  Renault, Le Phew and  Von Schwienkopf all staggered around disorientated as Luv N’more snatched the Princess and escaped denying the leagues the major plot point.

Better luck being rescued next time princess.

I've missed catching up with this thread. Both the last two tables look superb, especially the one for game two. Sounds like you had heaps of fun too!

pbjunky1, many, many years ago I've told the great Major General Tremorden Rederring that one day that bunch of Colonial fanatics in Texas would trade their heavily customized version of TSATF for a more skirmish-oriented game system with a different approach in unit activation and turn sequence... and you've just done that with TMWWBK and Pulp Alley!  lol

Great minis, terrain and AAR as well!  :-*

Your figures and terrain are absolutely wonderful. I think Pulp Alley works perfectly for these sorts of games.
