Someone tell me about Gloire??
« on: February 05, 2007, 06:22:38 PM »
Guys,

Been a long time Lurker here and would like someone to tell me about the Glorie system. I'm interested in some Pirate Skirmish stuff & have seen a few people comment on these rules. Here are my questions that I'm looking for:

How many figures?

How much pirate things are in it?

How fast does it play?

Does it have a Campaign system that allows you to build up your characters with experiance?

Does it include any ship or vehicle rules?

Just wondering, I have been working on a Pirate Project of my own and was wondering what is out there.

Thanks for any input,

TJSKI

1.) Anywhere from 1 figure to about 10 figures per player. With some simple adjustments you can go higher, but it was designed with just a handful in mind.

2.) Nothing specifically pirate in the main rulebook. The Pirate supplement Under the Black Flag comes out in June.

3.) The standard size, 2' x 2' board with three models per player goes in about 90 minutes if you know the rules and your scenario is not overly complex. The demo games for new players take about 2 hours to get through.

4.) Not in the main rulebook. It will be coming though. The one for .45 Adventure is in development and will be out next month so Gloire will follow that.

5.) Rules for mounted models are in the book as are coaches. Boats will be included in Under the Black Flag, but ships and the like will not be done in great detail since the game is not about ship on ship action.

Hope that helps and if you have any additional questions, just post away.

I also hear the author hangs around here sometimes, too.

I figured this was the best place to ask my questions since I always see Richard posting here... :)

Pete's the lead author on Gloire (I'm just the guy who pays the bills and rejects all his cool ideas.)

I think I'm far down on the credits page (right after the guy who picks up Pete's trash).

It's because he pays the bills that I let him reject all my cool ideas.
