Cimmerians from Dark Alliance 1/72 (Conan inspired)
« on: January 08, 2017, 09:07:27 PM »
I don't game at 1/72, but anything Conan-related usually gets my attention, so I took a chance on these miniatures. I don't have any of Dark Alliances' other sets (though the other fantasy ones look intriguing), and do not know how these might compare to those, but I was quite impressed with the sculpts and level of detail at this scale. Again, not my forte, so maybe this is just a typical level of quality. I thought they were cool, though...

Note that the contents of two of the sets are mislabeled, but in aggregate to the consumer's benefit. The box for Set 1 (ALL72027) lists the contents as 40 figures in 10 poses, when the sprues in my box actually contained 44 figures in 11 poses. The Set 2 box (ALL72028) states it contains 33 figures in 11 poses, where as mine came with 40 figures in 10 poses. And it's not a simple matter of having the wrong sprues in the wrong boxes. The silhouettes on each box are correct except for the fact that one of the silhouettes on the back of Set 2 is actually cast on the sprues in Set 1. There must have been some sort of miscommunication or last minute reconfiguration between the time the box art was finalized and the figure/sprue arrangement was decided upon. Regardless, it works out to the consumer's benefit.

Again, I was impressed with these little guys!

Those look pretty darn good for 1:72 plastic, which can be very hit and miss...

I bought them, too.

Models are predecent. I will use a few as 18mm Chaos Warriors or 'big' humans. Some (not many, sadly!)  work well with Copplestone 15/18mm Barbarians. Otherwise they might also be fine Frost Giants, or simply very good 20mm Evil Warriors.

I'll probably get rid of most of the boxes though. There isnt much variety.

Did you ever end up using these? I was considering using them as "little" frost giants for 15mm.

I painted those little chaps and use them for 1/72 fantasy RPG (D&D Style) as barbarians:
