Pulp Games Here on LAF
« on: February 06, 2007, 05:53:14 AM »
Guys,

My gaming group has been admiring the Doc Tomson game reports and I have a few questions for those who set these games up. First off how often do you guys get togther & play? Secondly what rules are you using & lastly how long does it take before each game?

Needless to say our group is planning on getting into some of this action and hope we can have some nice looking reports or stories as yours...

We're playing Doc with 45A rules but we don't play really often. We have played last year in berlin in october, this january in Kiel and the guys will be playing some games in february in Hamburg (on Tactica convention but unfortunately without me). We arent a local group (i'm in Stuttgart, Grimm/Knox in Hamburg, Dominic in Berlin, Dricscoles in Kiel and so on)  but if  we are meeting we play usually three 45A games, a little campaign. Check out our other Doc Thompson games - http://witchhunter.net/report_Berlin_45A.html or some other reports of Grimm/Driscoles in this forum. The rule preparation of a game isnt too difficult but we're trying to get some unique terrain boards and that could take longer

Hi,
iam one of the players who played the Doc Thompson scenarios. Here is some Info.

The first three adventures where designed by Grimm and me. Grimm had the overall ideas and I put some pepper on it.

The second part ( again three scenarios ) were designed by Grimm alone as far as I know.

Iam sure he can give you all information you need when you ask him.

Because we are all scattered all over Germany we dont meet very often. We played the first three parts in October and the second session was in January 2007.

Besides we have a well functional pulp gaming group in Northern Germany.
Players are Grimm, Driscoles, Green Knight and Loki. Sometimes some buddies join us.

We use the great .45 Adventure Rules and the supplements by Richard Johnson for our Pulp games.

The adventures are designed pretty easy when you have an overall idea what you wanna do and where your adventure will take place. The miniatures you will have available sometimes creates the story alone.
You should give it a try.

Hope my letter was helpful.

Cheers
Björn

Ok let explain our gaming structure

We have something like a core gamer section with four gamers.
There are three very active gamers, builders and painters and me
only as a gamer.
We all live within a driving distance from one car hour.
Then there are 3 to 5 good painters, builders and gamers, who comes a long, when it is possible ( car driving distance 2 hours to 5 hours).

Our time is a little bit restricted by family an jobs, but you can say any
45 days. Plus the small convetions we have here.
We play the great .45 Adventure rules and a game (if you are used to
the rules) takes 45 to 60 minutes.

At the last meeting we managed three Flash Gordon scenarios and two
Lost World scenarios within 7 hours.

I can only highly recommend a game master and the most fun to play
is with two man teams and judge.

Guys,

Thanks to all your info about the games, please keep it up since I love to see the further adventures of Doc Tomson.

I also can say that you have all inspired a bunch of us here in Phoenix AZ to jump into pulp gaming. It looks like we will be setting our first adventure in the lovely city of Cairo Egypt. So we will see what famous Characters come about of this thrilling tale. As a side note, it looks like we will establish a blog to follow our adventures & as soon as we get it set up I will let you all know.

Once again keep up the great work...
