Classic Citadel LOTR
« on: January 12, 2017, 03:27:02 PM »
A few old models done for a customer. They are a perfect example of what is good and what is bad about the classics from the early 80's! Many of you might be wondering why the sculptor decided to stick a moustache on Elrond. Theories are most welcome as neither I nor the customer can work it out.

Aragorn Elessar

Knight of Dol Amroth

Elrond

'Sir John ejaculated explosively, sitting up in his chair.' ... 'The Black Gang'.

Great painting on wonderfull old school minis.

Isn't Eldrond half elf, half man (Elrond Halfelven)? And maybe the sculptor wanted to express this by giving him an 80s moustache?

Probably the best answer really. Although I'd have preferred him to be divided vertically, with one half of the face having a full beard with bristling eyebrows and the other half smooth and clean shaven.

Maybe it's Elrond Hubbard?

Seriously, great painting, really striking stuff.

Bravo sir, bravo!

I think Tolkien mentions that Cirdan, the elvish ship wright has a beard. He doesn't say elves have pointy ears though!  lol

The Old Citadel pieces did have an ample amount of charm to them. Your WONDERFULLY painted & based creations bear testament to that notion. VERY WELL DONE!

Those are great - I especially like Aragorn's cloak (looks like actual fur with various colours) and the caparison on the Dol Amroth horse - that's a lovely blue!

Also, mustachioed Elrond is definitely the best Elrond :D
