Outstanding work.  Mine are still in a box awaiting paint. You painting both inspires and also puts me off painting them as yours are so well done  :D

Outstanding stuff!

All sorts of fun detail - grand work on the faded tartan blanket on Merry (or is it Pippin? I never can tell). And the shading on Bill the pony is fantastic.

Superb work on all of them, in fact.

That strider isn't the best of sculpts, but all the others look mighty fine. Merry and Pip even somewhat fierce!
Love the dark brass colour on Samwise's kettle.

What's the brand of the low grass/moss on their bases by the way? I've been looking for something between flock and bigger tufts and that stuff looks perfect.

Elrond's sculptor is here on LAF. Will he speak up and explain the 'tache?

It's homemade! I buy 1mm flock on eBay (mixing green and brown) and make the tufts with that. It's half the size of most manufacturers' moss tufts and gives a lovely velvety finish.

Having just finished acquiring the boxed set by picking up an undamaged Legolas, I can only echo exactly that.... ::)

Wonderful brushwork, as usual.
I think that Bill is my favourite.

I have to also say that your version of Pippin reminds me of a blonde Tom Baker with that face.

Excellent (sort of), thanks!

Excellent (sort of), thanks!

I'm actually doing a batch up now. Drop me a PM with your name and address and I'll send you a sample sheet if you like. I have been thinking about doing a job lot of tufts and flogging them off cheap, because I've got loads more flock and static grass than I'll ever use.

Wonderful! I love the fire-blacked bases to the pot and the kettle on Sam's back, and Bill the Pony is fantastic. Excellent basing, as always, and the faces are brilliant. The different patterns and textures on the cloth are handled really well too. Love it all!

I'd certainly be interested in a sample too - it looks really good.
