Here we go again, Legolas is added to the group. He's a bit scowly.

'Sir John ejaculated explosively, sitting up in his chair.' ... 'The Black Gang'.

I couldn't let them get posted off without a group photo of the 'Fellowship of the Ring' boxed set.

Indeed!
And great to see them all together.
That group have probably never been given a better lick of paint.

Amazing stuff. It is always interesting to see old school miniatures with a modern paint job.

Thanks guys, it's fun to revisit these old sculpts and see how damn good (and how damn bad) some of them really were. It also brings home how spoiled we are as regards the clean sculpts and casts we now enjoy!

Not many to go on this LOTR nostalgia trip now.

Ah, the chapter ends, yet a new chapter begins.

These are the last of the old Citadel Middle Earth models this customer has for me and what a wonderful trip down memory lane it has been. However, that doesn't mean I won't add the odd Orc or Goblin from my own collection, from time to time.

It begins a new chapter for me because for some time I've suspected that my short-distance vision has been wonky (blaming it on tiredness or odd light only works if it isn't happening every time) and I've been reluctant to admit that time has been affecting me. However, I reckon I've been getting a bit sloppy on the close-up detail work lately, so I bit the bullet and bought a cheapo pair of reading glasses. They made a hell of a lot of difference and really helped me to get the faces done properly on these fellas, so I recommend the same to anyone in the same boat as I was.

Anyhoo, enjoy these alternate versions of the Rohirrim from the Citadel ME range.

Superb work as ever. The faces are certainly worth a minor capitulation to reading glasses... And the white horse on the shield (& banner) is just wonderful. Great stuff.

Seconded. I just bought the same glasses for the same reason and hope they work half as well for me. Brilliant stuff.

oh my goodness, the faces on the rohans...

and in general (fellowship group pic for example) - such beautiful chiaroscuro. I'm kind of aiming for something like that using the poor man's approach of washes etc, but this is the real deal.
