Empress Miniatures SAS operator from the SAS8 pack.

Armed with a suppressed L119 carbine and a pistol, he is lightly equipped.

The night vision kit shows the effect of too much anime, I suspect that real night vision kit does not glow red!

Information gratefully received.

The rest of SAS8.
Another one armed with an L119.

Another one.

The support is armed with a Minimi (not sure if it is the L108 or the L110).

Who makes the "Emotional & Fire Support" mini?
from Mr.Vampire: "It's the paintjob that makes the miniature fight harder not the size."

Huh. I didn't know that the SAS were using that setup of dual NVGs, though I suppose those are becoming universal by this point. Heh, NVGs, a Red Dot and a Laser Sight may be a bit overkill though. ...Ah, especially if the later is perhaps a bit redundant with the NVGs, as it means that the enemy can see you. ;)

It is a discontinued Antenocitis figure with a Crooked Dice (FN) rifle. I think it came with two right arms, the other had a handbag.

@Wymalia:, the laser rig might be Infrared (switchable).

I am going to repaint the lenses on the first figure.

The Osprey Elite book on the SAS to 2017 has two photographs of SAS with four eyes NVG (pages 44 and 48) that looks like the Empress ones. They are different to the four in a row set on the Empress USMC Seals.

Someone on the Spectre Miniature's fan facebook page made the suggestio that NVGs are setup based on the soldier's role. If they're expected to be be close to the enemy/ in confined spaces then the two pair setup off the best peripheral vision. However if they're in a support role/ out in the open, the "traditional" setup are more practical.

It seems like an interesting way to better differenciate between guys armed with carbines, compared to rifles, etc. Well, I mean easier than actually looking at the model given how fiddly guns can be at that scale.

If they're NVGs go for the stereotypical green lenses like Sam Fisher. :)

...Or just black if you want to be boring and realistic. ;)

Whenever I see those dual NVGs I just picture the G22 guys from that game Alpha Protocol (that nobody played).

No idea on validity, but: https://tnvc.com/shop/anpvs-21-lpnvg/

The photographs on page 44 labels the kit as AN/PVS-21.

They always remind me of stuff by Masamune Shirow.

Those presumably have a role, but ah... Hmn, I guess you don't always want the optics to be active, though, and I may be misunderstanding that product's purpose ...that's why the NVGs can be taken off?  ::)

Taking the NVGs off takes time though - being able to simply look "though" the NVG image would be better if you're in a situation where you're moving through different light levels or wanting to using weapon sights rather than working off the IR laser from the PEQ box.

I suppose they're marketing them to those who are concerned about the seconds lost between flipping the goggles up and down. ...Or at least those who believe that to be a concern. I can see the practicality of course, but I'm not someone actually using them who can speak of how much a difference that makes.

Saying that, I can't see a clear spring in the mounts of modern NVGs. They look a bit more rigid, however it could be just that they've integrated the spring so it isn't damaged in the field. I'm just going by the similar systems which are used to give soldiers two sights setups on rifles (i.e. flipping between two different optics), which seems fairly quick.

I am sure others know better, but this set up resembles the Task Force Black/Task Force Knight photographs from the Elite 211 book on the SAS.

I do need to repaint the lenses, as they are the bottom pair and the pair just above the wearer's eyes.

In the above photograph, the bottom red lenses are lenses, the one above appears to be  solid.
