UVS WWW2 WIP - SOTR British Paratroopers 01/07/2018
« on: January 19, 2017, 09:10:02 AM »
Though I have a large number of Weird War models, very little has reached the publishable stage.

Here are two Studio Miniatures zombies.

These were test pieces, I now have a Figures In Comfort tray full of them.

So I now have to find them and then photograph them.

Thanks.

I hope to dig up the horde and get that photographed this weekend.

I have a plan for them and the Rubicon Sdkfz 253 and the feifel filters off of their Tiger (plus the Pinger set from West Wind).

Zombies, lots of them.

A mixture of Studio Miniatures plastics, Mantic plastics, Bolt Action plastics and West Wind SOTR metals. The bases still need harmonising.

Ooh, I see you making use of those West Wind heads. I have a ton of them, but can never find a use. :(

Are you planning many more? Maybe Soviet zombies with parts of the Wargames Factory kit mixed in? The odd bit of SS camo for variety?

What's the background for the zombies in K47 anyway (if that's what you're using them for), something about them being used to stop D Day right?

The West Wind heads are on West Wind bodies, I have a number from the starter packs before Studio Miniatures did their plastics.

I have two boxes of the Studio Miniatures plastics, so they are a major source, someone on the other thread suggested the K47 Totenkorp figures, but I think I have enough metals.

Nice idea to use the Soviet plastics, I have the PSC figures, but they are not suitably posed. I might get some BA plastics depending how the post war Soviet project plays out (I bought one Soviet sprue at Warfare).

There is no magic in K47, just applied Phlebotinium, in this case "Rift tech", two or more transdimensional holes caused by atomic bomb test and use, allowing communication with possibly two different parties supplying different weird tech.

How zombies work is not currently clear(animation by feeder entities is unlikely as it would violate the "no magic" rule), nor how they are created or controlled but unlike SOTR they are controlled units by default (rather than buying a Pinger to control them).

SDKFZ253 Totenkontrolfahrzeug

The rack and the box on the door are inspired by the photograph on page 56 of the Terry Gander book on the 250.
The structure on the rear of the vehicle are the cyclone air filters from the Tiger kit. As this vehicle is used both as a control and a forward observer vehicle the crew need protection from the V-Gas and their charges.

Some additional tidying up is required.

The final paint work will be a camouflaged dark yellow.

Now if I could get hold of an octopus like roundal...

Nice use for the 253, a quirky vehicle that you'd normally struggle to find a gaming use for (but is a great model).
Didn't CompanyB do some Hydra decals that'll cover what you're after? (Sorry if that's what you were talking about.)

Edit: The Hydra decals aren't currently on the site, but I imagine are available if you contact Brent.

Something along those lines.

Following consultation, it has been suggested that I add a Rundumsfeur remote mg.

Totenkontrolfahrzeug, wait, that's a zombie 250? 0.o

Hmn, I suppose Sarg could also work. It does have the right profile. :)

In SOTR there is a way of controlling zombies (they wire up the motor control functions of a dead officer and treat him as a radio controlled zombie - the other zombies just follow him).

This vehicle combines chemically protected forward observation (for delivering the V-Gas) and zombie control.

Long range raider SDKFZ234 Puma (work in progress).

The outer wheels are in place temporarily, I will spray all the wheels separately.

IR searchlight made from a 15mm scale PSC Panther cupola.

Projekt X German Armoured Infantry (40mm scale).

The building in the background is a York Model Making 7mm scale low relief terraced house.
