Pulp Alley AAR: A Clash of Four Leagues
« on: January 28, 2017, 02:24:44 PM »
Took me a while to get this AAR done.  It is from a game we did in October.  It was a four player game, with one newbie.  We played on a 4 X 4 table, but otherwise did not alter the rules much.

We have started the Periolous Island Campaign, and I hope to get the first few AARs up soon!

Hi Matt, looks like the action was fast and furious, the comic book layout really suits the story.
Roughly how long did it take you to create it?

Even though princess Tatiana only got 1 minor plot point it was the one to go for, who needs explosives when they can have 100 year old brandy. :)
Do you know who makes the figure is very nice and would go well with the Copplestone Russians
Cheers

Tatiana is from West Wind's Empire of the Dead line, "Romanov Holiday" pack # GHR0002: http://www.westwindproductions.co.uk/index.php?route=product/category&path=113

What I'm wondering is where the Professor and Fiancee are from - never seen those two before!

Thanks Fran I thought she and the cosacks had the Westwind look about them. Cheers

I wondered about the prof but thought they might be railway models and didn't want to ask to many questions and show my ignorance ::)

I was wondering if they were railroad models, but they seem of a better quality and more dynamic sculpture than you normally see in railway models.

Fram, those are indeed model railroad figures, very cheap ones at that.  Since they aren't intended to be characters, I figured I could skimp a bit.  They paint up ok.  They came in a pack of 100 with 12 variants, so they provide lots of opportunity to practice different painting techniques.  They should be popping up more often in future AARs.

Thanks Vagabond.

I use an app called Comic Life 3.  It is a bit quirky, but it was free when I got it.  Not sure about now.  To do up a comic like this it takes a bit of time.  Part of the problem is that I am not inspired on laying it out, and it takes a while to arrange everything the way I like.  I think the total elapsed time is about 4-6 hours, but I think that could easily be cut in half.

If the pictures are good quality, and you have an adequate amount to tell the story, it can go faster.  I on one or two occasions, right after the game,  I have gone back and recreated an event to get a better picture for the comic book.
