Thanks Mac!

They are part of a 28/32mm Mars based VSF project I've working on using Dystopian Legion figures. The Kits are based on my designs and are being produced by Blotz.

Very smart. I like the heavy cannon...

Being new to this, what is the idea behind Aeronefs? Is it assumed they can fly in the lower gravity of Mars, or have those cunning Victorians created some kind of cunning anti-gravity technology that we lesser mortals know not?

Many different ideas: Aeronef, the game, has a couple including Negative Gravity Screw and R-Matter. Space 1889 claimed that a Martian tree that had resin that would 'shield' against gravity, and was called 'liftwood'. Frank Chadwick recently went on a tack about odd kinds of bosons. Clueless-was-I.

I actually try to mix-and-match, so you can have the lovely wooden sky kites of Space 1889, and various contra-gravity 'engines' for metal gunboats.

Somewhere in the mix is 1889's (A)Ether propellers for space, but I forget...

Doug

Edit: And if you must, you can always add, in your imagination, if necessary, a gasbag, hover propellers, or even flapping wings...  ;D

Many thanks Tesla Knight, those Launches look very promising for what I want.

Are there any plan/ideas to do some small craft as opposition? E.g., Martian skiffs.

Glad you like them!

There are more planned. Next will be two Oriental style Nef followed by two for the Antartican faction. These were intended to go with our Dystopian Legions figures. After that there will be two for the Prussians.

After that I was planning to do some skiffs for the highland plateau Martians and some Tripods for the more tecnological Canal Martians. May take a while but they are still all things I want to get done.

The_Beast has given some answers. Other popular ones include cavorite (that I have a habit of spelling 'cavourite' just in case you were going to search the last 10 years of discussions on the forum, from 'The First Men in the Moon' by HG Wells) and Martian beam technology (in 'Princess of Mars' and the other John Carter books by Edgar Rice Burroughs).

Obviously, this boils down to "those cunning Victorians (and Martians) created some kind of cunning anti-gravity technology that we lesser mortals know not", ie what keeps them up is 'suspension of disbelief'.

HUGE thanks to Red Orc and Sinewgrab! Obviously, a topic on my mind, and I shall mine those previous topics. :D

Sometimes the 'how' suggests particular ways of modelling, and in battle, trying to counter.

I have waxed lyric on your work, tin shed gamer, but, as an aside, I will say Space 1889 had room for both aerostats and rotor-based lift. This IS the place for those pretty pictures, of course! :-*

I've always been amazed by the quality of some of the stuff here.

I'm curious if there are any threads floating around (preferably ones which have survived the photobucket purge) which show the techniques that go into making these beauties.

Cheers Dough,

I'm already building a steam launch (something I. Store underneath the flyer) so I'll pop an image or two on here once I'm part the blaspheming stage of the build.

Ncse,

I'd recommend trawling through anyone's threads who's post in this topic.
All the techniques I've used on my white elephant/ether flyer. Are spread over my tales from the tin shed threads,on the workbenches tutorials .
