As I realized, about a week ago, that I would not have time to complete my Vickers Victoria till deadline, I was ready to simply pull out. But then I remebered an old pipe dream which Plynkes, I and a few others discussed a few years ago.

So I figured I'd give this a go: to make a flying Andean flamingo
(Phoenicoparrus andinus) for my 'Chickenrace on the Arumbaya' game (for anyone who remembers that).
So past Thursday I set of cutting the pieces for a flamingo.
The first try was all solder and brass...
But I realized one flamingo doth not a flock make. It look quite paltry so I use a wing template and cut out 14 more. Some of the were connected so that a few birds would not need supports from the base.
Body and heads were sculpted from green stuff, the eyes were marked with a punch tool.
I brushed on liquid green stuff quite generoulsy on primarely the wings tring to give tehm a bit of volume and texture in the right places.
The whole painted and mounted flock of 14 flamingoes will be shown as a competition entry. I hope you'll like it.
