VBCW Dorsetshire Campaign
« on: March 03, 2017, 11:51:27 PM »
Aftere a slow start (due real life work and internet access problems), the first turn of my VBCW Dorsetshire campaign has concluded.

At the middle of February, the state of the camoaign is as follows:

Dorchester - Sir Poynti-Brogue, (Lord Lieutenant of Dorsetshire) has consolidated his position on Dorchester, Weymouth and Portland and created a good power base for the Royalists in the county.

Bournemouth (Hampshire) - Sir Henry Bullington-Shotte (MP Conservative) has secured control of Bournemourh, with the help of his British Fascisti militia and loyal TA soldiers.

New Forest (Hampshire) - Lord Bramshurst (with the aid of the Court of Verderers) has taken control of the Forest and started to raise loyal militias.

Sherborne - The Bishop of Sherborne has raised the standard of the Anglican League and is starting to organise Church militias.

Wimborne - Despite being a bit isolated and obviously a key road and rail junction for any military campaign, Gneral De'Ath has started coordinating defenders for the town

Poole - the Independant Port of Poole has placed guards and observation points at the obvious places, but is otherwise quiet, no doubt concentrating on the continuancce of trade (trade is king for Poole)

Issues to be dealt with:

* Lack of motorised transport (except for Bournemouth)

* Lack of fuel (except for ports of Weymouth and Poole, plus the New Forest, who have access to Fawley refinery)

* Lack of small arms for everywhere other than Dorchester, Bournemouth and Poole

* Lack of artillery ammunition (except for Dorchester)

* Threat of Anglican reinforcements from Salisbury

* Lack of knowledge of what is happening elsewhere in thr country

All in all, an interesting set of dilemas

Off to an interesting start.
"Peace" is that brief, glorious moment in history when everybody stands around reloading.

Blandford is quite a old historical town ,might be worth thinking of fluff for it?

I suspect that Blandford will get dragged in very soon. Can't say any more than that at the moment.

In their briefings for the second turn, the players have just learned of a mutiny by the Navy in Portsmouth, who have declared support for the socialists. Let's see what they make of that :)

Great to see 'background' like this makes the games that go with them much more interesting.
