Great work on the terrain! Do you have enough of it to fill a table, or have you concentrated it to give a dramatic photo? Either way, it works

First: I do not speak very good English.
I´ve translate with my computer
Second:
To be honest - The forground is from my Frensh Indian war terrain - I have enough only for this pictures ( maybe five or six small pieces )
The background is a big round Plastik Ball with green leaves for decoration.
Third:
If I have a table full of terrain of this kind, it would be impossible to play, because there is not much space for gaming

I hope anybody can understand my bad translation

That's the first time I've seen anyone use a red-brown cloth; it's such a common and distinctive soil colour in tropical Africa. It's a very effective but simple way to geographically locate the tabletop. And I paint all my DA figure bases in that colour, too.

I have wrestled with the question of mat colour and am not entirely happy so far. One problem is that about 20% of my collection dates back to the first Darkest Africa release by Wargames Foundry all those years ago. I followed (as best I could) the excellent brushwork on the WF website and based my figures on a sand colour (specifically Vallejo Iraqi sand, drybrushed with pale sand). They turned out fairly well and look good against my present mat (a rather nice semi arid one from Terrain Mat). As a byproduct, I also based them on 21mm bases (UK 1p size) and groaned when Congo came out using larger bases. If i had realised how many more figures I would end up painting, I would probably have redone the early explorers, Zanzibaris, Azande and Belgians, on larger bases and perhaps in a different colour, but I didn't. Oh well.

So, I don't want the bases to look too out of place against the mat but anyway haven't found a ready made one (in the UK) which really captures the red/orange brown colour I associate with the savannah. Does anyone know if anyone sells such a thing in the UK? If so, my basing dilemma will only get worse, but I would rather know than not!

I am very impressed, I also use the same standard green mat, but this is so much better and I have to admit the figures are painted better than anything I can do. Fantastic stuff
