Hello Forum, from USA Florida
« on: March 10, 2017, 02:41:37 PM »
Hi All!   I'm really excited to be apart of this forum.  Just to tell y'all about myself, I'm a stay at home Mom of two kids.  I love doing art and creating things.  What lead me to your website is my kid loves hot wheels and apocalyptic modified cars. I said we should create our own and here I am.  I saw some amazing photos here and realized we need to start with a bit box!  This is where y'all come in, I need your, the experts, advice!  Any and all advice is welcome.  What I would like to know is where do you find hotwheels size missiles, guns, bombs, grates, etc.  I would like to go the prefab stuff because my boy wouldn't have the patience to make everything from stratch or from molds.

Welcome Mom.

I'd recommend swap meets and thrift stores for second hand toys and model kits. Otherwise Tuesday Morning, Ross, etc has been pretty good for me for cheap 1/72 model kits (jet planes would be good for missiles, bombs, etc).

Hello and welcome to the forum  8)

Cheap sci-fi plastic toys could provide a good source of bits.

As was said before, old broken toys & models are a good source. Some times you can get old 1/72, 1/76, or 1/87 scale models cheap at hobby stores on clearance. If you have thrift stores near by, they are a good source for old/broken toys & models. Not far from me is a Goodwill & a St. Vincents bin stores. That is where the send their stuff that didn't sell at the stores & dump them into big bins & sell by the pound. I have found a lot of bit to build stuff really cheap that way. It also makes a fun little change in routine to look for things to use. BTW welcome to the forum. Will look forward to seeing some pictures of what you & your youngsters build.
