Free papercraft haunted houses
« on: March 12, 2017, 12:34:03 PM »
Artist Ray O'Bannon has some free haunted houses (ships, aircraft, graveyards, fairground rides etc.) at his website complex:
http://ravensblight.com/papertoys.html

Here is my build of his Ghost House:

It's just about big enough for 28mm. I might feel like trying it again at some stage. I believe the Bleak Estate is also big enough, but is so under-engineered that I wouldn't want to try it again.

The Cliff House is maybe large enough for 20-25mm, but not 28mm.
Most of the other buildings are for much smaller scales, mostly scales that don't suit horror because, well, they're tiny. Often 10mm, or microscale.

Neat. I think these would make for a picturesque background scene.

Are these worth the trouble to build over foamcore to make them more sturdy?
a mixture of quick parts, sarcastic humour, reserve, and caprice.

I'd be more likely to use 600 or 1000GSM card; foamcore would be a massive investment in time and money.

Of course, you could always change the size the sheets are printed to fit all possible scales you want :)

Except that they are not vectored images, which will distort the parts and pixelate the cut and fold lines, as well as making the textures visually incomprehensible. Not every papercraft designer embeds huge textures in the image without flattening them.
