20mm 1938 ECW
« on: March 02, 2009, 11:43:01 AM »
So, having bought the book, I want to try a couple of games in this timeline, but my gaming friends are tight, and are only prepared to play in 1/72 (or 20mm) because they're cheaper ::)

Actually, I've found quite a bit of useful stuff out in the market, but what I can't find is a source of separate weapons I can use for conversions.  Can anyone help please?

(Oh, and just because we're going to start with plastic doesn't mean I won't be moving as quickly as possible to 20mm white metal!)

If memory serves me SHQ (now Sgts Mess I think) used to produce lots of separate weapons

Sgts Mess make some nice 20mm figures which would be great for this period - I just got some today!

Thats not a bad scale choice as you will find plenty of Hornby or similar Terrain and some vehicles in Railway shops.
I was thinking about doing Geezers in that scale for that reason.

Thanks chaps :D They're all great links and Sgts Mess looks like it can provide the squad-support weapons I've been looking for.

I'd I think I'll have to get me some of their boy scouts and rhmodels' Hitler Youth for suitable conversion to AVBCW :)

I've also found some usful stuff from Preiser and some other railway models - especially since looking at old maps of my city (Sheffield), a couple of key train depots jump out as likely sites for conflect and fertile ground for scenarios!

I've not found a source of separate small-arms and rifles, yet, though?  Or am I just spoiled in my usual 28mm by such things? :)
