Painting Star Wars Armada
« on: March 15, 2017, 10:59:17 AM »
I've just started painting up my Star Wars Armada miniatures, mainly the squadrons but also a small amount of work on any duplicate ships, nothing groundbreaking just enough so that they look good on the gaming table.
A lot more background on the project over on my blog:

I've just dropped the game into my shopping basket on Amazon. I'm trying to wait overnight before pressing the "buy" button, but seeing the painted ships isn't helping o_o

The paint jobs are looking good, and nice blu-tac pillar for holding the fighters lol

I've not regretted buying it :)

I was a little stumped on how to paint the fighters at first, I have seen people use cotton buds with the tips removed but the blu tack seems to be working well for me.

A good start, and thanks for blaming me on your blog for all your purchases

 lol

Btw, the link you put on your blog post doesn't work - might need to drop the brackets?

Working on an X Wing this morning, it's tough keeping a steady hand on such small details.

Cheers,

Despite just being a basic paint job I'm really enjoying working on these.

I caved and purchased the game at the weekend, so I'm now looking at painting these guys at some point. It's nice to see the huge improvement even a "basic paint job" gives :)

I'm in two minds about the larger ships. They're painted, but some of the painting is quite harsh - especially the black lining effect. It isn't at the head of the queue, but I suspect I may want to tone the effect down a bit at some point.

I know what you mean with the ships, I'll be sticking to re-colouring duplicates rather than full repaints though and concentrate getting all the squadrons painted up.

They look so small and yet you've done a great job painting them!

Finished up another batch of TIE fighters this morning, just one more batch and that will be the core sets done.
