GPK - Galactic Peace Keepers 15mm scifi
« on: March 23, 2017, 08:08:35 AM »
Hello all here are my GPK Galactic Peace Keepers,
Sort of a Buzz Light year UN.

The vehicles are cheap made in China toys that fit the bill perfectly. In fact it was their scowling animal like front that made me think this army up. The only issue was that I had to drill the rivets that hold the top & bottom together so I could remove the yellow spoiler thing. Then I glued the whole & used the spoilers to build flying droids.

The minis & jet bikes are Brigade PacFed, see them here Brigademodels PacFed
The Mecha are scratchbuilt , you can  them here Scratch-built-15mm-mechas
The Bikes are also scratchbuilt as can be seen from the pics, the drivers & gunners are Brigade also. The sniper rifle is made from sprue.

Loving these a ton. One great thing about 15mm, the ability to have more outlets you can use for vehicles.
The wheels on the bikes, their source?
The vans, in a quick synopsis, how did you get from box to table?
The green arrows on top for example, you mask them off before paintingredients? What else?
Looking good.

Thanks Grimm,

Had them in my spares box , I think they were from a 1/76th WW2 kit.
Matchbox/Airfix 1/76th & 1/72nd kits are excellent for 15mm.
Look here
http://castrarunis.blogspot.com.mt/2014/02/using-176th-172nd-kits-for-15mm.html

and here

http://castrarunis.blogspot.com.mt/2015/06/sbef-power-armour-nsl-apcs-scratchbuilt.html

Ok here goes..
a) Drill rivet out ( there's usually a single rivet & a tongue/groove on diecast models )
b) Remove spoiler , sand chrome from wheels & reglue vehicle
c) Scratchbuilt turret & flashing lights.
d) No masking , just brushed on acrylic paint , home made markings & Gw ork checkers.

Is that clear enough ?

Someone asked me how I did the head antennae on the Parma ( Robotech/Battletech)Suits.
Those are made using hammered needles. Use soft steel one not the brittle ones ( if they bend they're soft steel ).

Hold them using a small long nose pliers on a metal bench vise ( or a small anvil or any other flat metal surface) & hammer flat . Bend at 90 deg & cut to size.

Much more durable than anything else I've tried.

Oh & they make excellent 15mm /25mm swords & spears also :):):)

Hope you use this
