Gold is a great color choice.!

Thanks, Michael!

It's just drybrushed from black with some wash, true speedpaint, but I needed minis to play with...

They look great!

And in gold they look like Threepio's killer cousins.

Security detail Omega has been tasked with finding the source of the mutant raids and putting an end to them.

While examining a tunnel they stumble upon a huge city of mutants

B-2ON: Oh, dear.

The sound startles a mutant sentry, who raises the alarm.

D-4QP: We're doomed!

"We have tracked our lost data-cores to your city, where the signal disappeared. Either you have destroyed them or you have them in a shielded location. We don't think you went through the ordeal to aquire them with the intent of destroying them here, so we know they are somewhere near.
Bring them to us or we will find them with as much violence as needed. Your choice."

Built on site by mobile construction vehicles, prefabricated and lifted in place by enormous haulers or even inserted from orbit, outposts can be created in many ways. The one thing that unites them is location: outposts are built in remote or sparsely populated areas.

Outposts can serve many different purposes: controlling or securing strategic areas (military outposts), extraction of natural resources (mining/drilling outposts), settling uninhabited areas (civilian outposts) or being able to conduct research without prying eyes or collateral damage if something goes wrong (research outposts), to name a few.

Satellite image by Oscar Falk, on Flickr

Contact was lost with research outpost "Ixa's Eye" during the storm season, which blankets Ixa, one of Golgotha Prime's minor continents, in electromagnetic storms.
This was expected. What wasn't expected was the absence of communication after the storm season was over. Even more curious was the absence of investigative missions from the organization owning the research outpost.

Tech Archaeologist Juno Starstrider heard the rumours about Ixa's Eye and decided to investigate it for herself. After months of satellite scans and picture analysis, Starstrider could localize the outpost. Initial scans didn't show any activity onsite.

She arrived at an abandoned outpost. Stores, labs, garages and databanks were all empty. Left behind were only deactivated guardbots and one log entry reading "Electromagnetic shielding insufficient, relocating to recently discovered enclave, codename: D-RR-Y".

Just as Starstrider finished reading the log, a proximity alarm went off. A ship had landed a couple of clicks away, the signature indicating it being a NeoDyne Security troopship. "Uh-oh, looks like an attempt of hostile takeover is about to happen. Let's see if I can hinder it..." she said as she started rebooting the deactivated guardbots...

Great photos, so clear.  I think you knocked it out of the park with the color scheme.  The bright yellow was a great choice.

Nice, are the buildings scratchbuilt? I recognise the GZG fittings on them!

Hey, thanks! I took the photos early morning on my balcony, clear skies and brutal sunlight, 80 ISO and macro!

I wanted the buildings to remind of older RTS games, like Command and Conquer, hence the grey/yellow scheme. I asked around for tips about colour choice, but ended up doing it the easy way: painting greeblies separate and then glueing them on.

Here's a couple of my favorite pictures, that I had to discard due to background breaking immersion.

Thanks, Etranger!

They are indeed scratchbuilt, from soap dishes bought from Flying Tiger (former TGR, former Tiger). I just added some plasticard, corrugated paper and GZG bits.

Thanks, Mac!

I hope to be able to start playing a campaign this year, I've soon got enough terrain to have some variety in setting and hopefully soon have enough painted miniatures to be able to field a variety of NPCs, heroes and enemies.

NeoDyne Security responding to an alert by Oscar Falk, on Flickr

Corporation: NeoDyne Security
Parent corporation: NeoDyne MegaCorp
Colours: Red, grey and black
Logo: An upward pointing triangle comprised of three red upward pointing triangles
Core business: Security, law-enforcement, acquisition/repossession
Notable activities: Corporate warfare (confirmed), hostile takeovers (confirmed), corporate espionage (suspected), kidnapping/brain drain (suspected), assassinations (rumored)

A typical NeoDyne Security team consists of five officers. One officer carries a support weapon, while the other four carries pistol-type weapons. NeoDyne is known for issuing advanced weaponry to their security forces (although the corporation issues sub-par armour; the mortality rates are high at NeoDyne Security).

What does it take to become a NeoDyne Security officer? Just two things: undying loyalty to the corporation and the ability to take and execute orders without questions or hesitation. A natural talent for being ruthless isn't mandatory, but it's a great asset.

Thanks, Mac! These minis were my first attempt of batch painting, but I wasn't happy with them, so they've been lingering in a box for a couple of years.
Picked them up just to check them out and suddenly saw what was wrong - not enough contrasting highlights. So I added some highlights (especially on the weapons) and painted their visors, which was the only thing not finished (except for the bases).

The visors are painted with a basecoat of 50/50 Charred Brown and Gory Red, then highlighted with Gory Red, Bloody Red and Heavy Orange from Vallejo.
Finally I add two white dots, one larger and one smaller.
Done!

Great stuff, I particularly like the outpost  8)

Thanks, James!

Cool miniatures and great paint choices.  Might I also say that the background terrain is fun to look at!
