Brilliant!

Thanks, Oldben1! Simple but still nice, I think.

A simple building yet full of character!
Love the lights( consider that idea stolen  8) )
and the tree/vine too.
Are you going to glue the building to the pavement piece or keep it removable?

Thank you, Stroezie!

It sure is simple, just a box with some greeblies. Still, it took much longer to finish than I thought (increasing the amount of children you have with 100% will do that).

I'm happy if I can inspire others, can't wait to see your take on it.

I've glued the building to the pavement, I have city terrain which is based on squares (four road/pavement tiles 30x30 cm large, two t-intersections and two L-turns) with insertable buildings on 98x98 mm (or 98x196 mm) tiles. I think I would knock down my terrain if I didn't base it.

Thanks, Jagannath!

I had to do something to transform the building from blocky block to something "living", the lanterns were just a shot in the dark...

Thank you, Mac! It's like when I read Stroezie's threads and want to go 6mm...

15mm is a good compromise though. Enough detail to be interesting, small enough to either be easy to store (I play on a 60x60 cm city board or a 90x60 cm wilderness board) or depict larger areas (city fight rather than block fight).

Unity worlds are mandated to have an industrial base substantial enough to sustain the population in times of crisis, if interplanetary trade or governmental support is suspended. Although this is the ground rule, there is great variation between worlds.

Planets close to the galactic core, with multiple trade routes and scarce natural resources, might skirt the regulations by relying on a few converter plants. Converter plants are energy intensive facilities where you deposit items and materials that nanobots disassemble and reassemble into new objects. Planets abundant in natural resources, in close proximity to important worlds or trade routes, might go the opposite way, establishing world-spanning factories and turning planets into industrial worlds.

Worlds on the galactic fringe are usually in the earlier stages of colonization. Newly established colonies are dependent on off-worlder deliveries (trade, government subsidies or corporate support), but establishing manufacturing capabilities is highly prioritized. Depending on the technological level of the colony, this could be anything from blacksmiths and forges to fully automated factories.

Pictured here is a workshop on Golgotha Prime, which mainly produces spare parts. Although seemingly small, the installation boasts multiple sublevels, the building shown just being the proverbial tip of the iceberg...

What a wonderful project.
I really like the mix of 'technology levels' and shall be doing something similar soon for my own sci-fi project*.
I shall be stealing a few of your ideas, I am sure.
 :-* :D :-*

BTW: I do the same with basing buildings. It is so much easier.
 ;)

*Well, progress has begun somewhat but no pictorial evidence yet...

Thanks, Mason! I've been working on it on and off for a couple of years and soon I might even be able to play a game :D

I'd be honoured if you stole a few ideas, since I've been really inspired by Upsheet Creek and its sci-fi iteration when building my badlands/wilderness board.

I guess it is what being a member of a forum is all about.
It is the complete 'sci-fi iteration' of the Creek that I will be working on soon, so I shall be stealing away, I think.
 ;) :D

Hobby time is at an all-time low due to full time work and family matters. Still, I have been postning here for about a year, but I have been building and painting for years before that.

Now I'm wondering if there is any interest in seeing my old stuff? And if so, what do you want?

1. Terrain
- City (and/or) wilderness/badlands/colony?
- Stories (and/or) tutorials?

2. Miniatures
- Stories (and/or) tutorials?

Start with the eye candy and work from there, I reckon.
That way, if people have questions etc then the thread will just grow naturally from there, with tutorials added later etc.

To transport goods, to hide behind or to decorate your evil lair: nothing is better than crates! You can hide weapons, power-ups, medical supplies ...whatever you want in them. Crafty spies have been known to hide themselves in crates. And when a firefight breaks out, when bullets and bolts of energy starts flying, crates are mighty good to hide behind.

Shown here is Quartermaster Isha Caine,  overseeing the loading of cargo hauler "The Helping Hand", on a mission to resupply a failing colony.
