Looking good.

Have Tiny Terrain gone tits up? I see their mooted IS range was sold to 1st Corps, their website times out and their FB page has nothing since June of last year.

Can I ask why mate, it’s not an inflammatory question I’m just generally interested why people don’t engage in modern wargames?

Because it is too close (plus active conflicts can have opinions on both sides - hence the forum rules on 21st Century conflicts).

Interesting exchange.  Obviously, I don't have any problems doing modern stuff, but that's just me.  However, for a variety of reasons (including abiding by forum rules),  I decided that my 28mm modern stuff would generally be set in the late 80s and early 90s, and in fictional locations.

Please tread lightly on this particular topic.  If it becomes a general engagement, it might warrant it's own thread.  In my opinion, there are no moral absolutes here, and the old maxim "To each their own" certainly applies.

And, thanks everyone for your comments.  And I think Tiny Terrain has indeed gone tits up, sadly....

You have taken half of my comment and assumed something from it which is incorect. I  was refering to Cptn Jims continual referals to acronym's that I have no knowledge of and therefore they are "outside my comfort zone". I really enjoy the way he writes his game reports and even if, because of his military background he will include things I don't know or understand, that doesnt stop me enjoying his style of writing.

Your question on "why people don't engage in modern wargames" is I'm afraid rather naive and any answer will bring down a shit storm of debate and that is not why I frequent LAF. Strangely enough I do engage in modern wargames, this is a link to one I posted here, it was very topical and I  checked with Westphalia Chris to ensure it wasn't too controversial.   you might enjoy it because dogs, women and Tommy Cooper impersonators were all killed during the game.

Jim, sorry about this, I  know you will have taken my comment as it was meant and not as has been infered by others.
Cheers

I’m not assuming anything, I assure you 👍🏻

Having served in the military in the 80s, I personally don’t have any problem with people wargaming modern conflicts. It’s hardly as if we are recreating reality, it’s playing with toy soldiers at the end of the day, so I don’t get people’s hang ups.

Tiny Terrain has indeed closed up as the owner has had a change of career.

There has been at least one tentative approach to buy the figure range off him that I'm aware of, plus some additional unreleased sculpts.  I'm hopeful one of them will pan out.

No worries.  I took it all in stride.  More modern games are in the works. After all, the US has to rescue their Ambassador to Balszakistan, and in Northern Gambola, Gen. Isgood is still on the loose... ;)

As far as translating the military acronyms, just holler, and I'll interpret for ya!

Hmm.  I'll be waiting for news from that front...

My gaming group has set our next 2 gaming sessions.  This coming Friday will feature an ACW game, but the next Friday (15 March) will see us play another game where US troops go after Gen. Isgood in Northern Gambola again.  It will, of course, be in 28mm, and we'll likely be using Fistful of Lead: Bigger Battles.  I'll post the scenario info once I have it done up.

And, I should be able to post pics of my very-soon-to-be-completed US 3rd squad later this week.

Stay tuned...

Keep up the good work Capn.

Thanks.  That's the plan.  Pics of the US 3rd squad could show up as early as Thursday.  Those pics will include the whole platoon, with Humvees and helos.
