Terror of the Lichemaster
« on: April 23, 2010, 09:01:24 PM »
Hi

I played this years ago and have found it again, reading through the book the Lichemasters forces seem a touch weak and I can't remember if that's the case.

before playing again do I need to beef them up?

Thanks

I played it many many years ago, I dont remember unbalanced forces. Maybe i'm wrong but I would say the two first scenarios where really few models and quite fast to play, too short to have fun in fact.  I'm not sure of the names, can they be the mine and the farm assault scenarios?
This campaing has a sequel, the Return of the Lichemaster, the undead and skaven assault at La Maisontal monastery defended by a few Bretonian Knigths, i would say it was published in White dwarf.

Gotta agree w the White Dwarf idea. I've never owned a Journal, and I used to have the scenario.

In no particular order there is

"Rigg's Shrine" in the 2nd Compendium which is zealot Amazons.
"Dolgan Raiders" in the 2nd Journal
"Vengeance of the Lichemaster" in the Spring '86 Journal
"Legend of Kremlo the Slann" 1st Compendium

My White Dwarfs are in the attic and I didn't fancy trawling through that many magazines tbh.

There were two scenarios involving the monastery, one in the Journal and one in White Dwarf.

"Terror Of The Lichemaster" can be downloaded from Rapidshare, and the the others WFB scenarios and card buildings packs as well!

I think with the way the new rules work and spells etc being different the forces of the Lichemaster would now be pretty weak, From memory he had a rune weapon which was pretty cool but no such weapon under the new rules.  So if you play it with the Original rules it was intended for it is okay, play it with the current rules and it will pretty much be a walk in the park for the good guys.

You could of course try Mc Death or Orcs Drift

Yeah it was covered in minor death runes against the hero types!

Can anyone remember what minor death runes actually do?

A minor death rune slays a creature of a specific race. You only need to cause a hit, no armour save, no strength vs toughness. The race is decided by the GM before the game. A lesser death rune does the same but against a randomly rolled race. A greater death rune kills everything it hits, but these are inscribed by gods and are therefore rather rare! So says the battle magic book from Warhammer 2nd edition.
