So, Augustus from the previous page was painted. Not a great war leader himself (I might need an Agrippa too...), but a character to leave a mark on the world for sure.

He could be your Agrippa, to run the military side for your Augustus figure. He certainly looks the part of a Roman general!

I really like the blend of periods in your collection.  The look great fighting side by side.  Are you ever tempted to switch components between the Warlord plastic kits?  Like, a couple of Caesarian helmets in the Early Imperial regiments?

Fantastic! Love the officer in particular, it’s difficult to pick out all the details without the model looking confused, but you’ve smashed it :D

Thank you for the kind comments, guys!

They were not built together and there are not too many leftover bitz from these kits. I am toying with the idea of chainmail trops with EIR helmets- lorica segmentata never completely replaced the good old chainmail, and metal armour basically does not have an expiration date, with proper care a lorica hamata shirt from under Alesia could've been easily used even during Traian's conquests. An other idea of mine is mixing the shields between the units- 1-2 is always breaking down, I will put them back onto other units figures.

Yes, for now, Agrippa will be portrayed by one of my generic commanders :)

Oh yes, it was a busy sculpt, some of the details I had to look two or three times at to figure out what is what, but at the end the simple colour scheme put everything into its place.

Freddy, this thread is a delight! Well done on the sculpting and top-notch painting!
I am going to build a wargames army, a big beautiful wargames army, and Mexico is going to pay for it.

2019 Painting Challenge :
figures bought: 500+
figures painted: 57
9 vehicles painted
4 terrain pieces scratchbuilt

The next will be the other unit of auxilia I think, those are metal ones.
