East Surrey Regiment.
« on: March 21, 2015, 07:59:41 PM »
Reading about Artizan's Colonial figures on here, it appears there's some doubt concerning the helmet flashes? I think the figures look peachy and will be adding a Regiment to the 2nd. Malakand Field Force. This will be Harry's East Surrey Regiment... complete with helmet flashes!

:)

Harry,

The doubt only concerns British troops in the Second Afghan War of 1878-1880.  By the time of the Malakand Field Force of 1897 there's no doubt.  I agree, helmet flashes do look colorfully dashing and I look forward to seeing the ones on your figures!

The 2nd. Malakand Field Force will be a somewhat motley crew with a rather vague sense of direction, even when led by their Guides... at some point they'll set off up the Khyber and wind up in the Sudan to help sort out the Mad Mahdi.

Chin up, Harry lad, it's going to get a lot worse before it gets better!

There is a wicked rumour that the Suffolks (currently fighting the wily Pathan on the NWF in my TMWWBK play tests) will also be called upon to take on the Mahdi AND shipped down South to deal with the pesky Boer... They don't half get around... ;)

And I agree, the helmet flash may not be 100% accurate for the 2nd Afghan War, but it does look rather spiffing...still trying to decide what colour(s) to do mine on my Artizan figs...

I wholeheartedly agree with Andy, they are your toys, paint them how you like  :).

It didn't take long to file the helmet flashes off, which is what I have done.
