Started painting my metal cadians  :o

It's going to be a simple scheme - all shades of grey - to be used in urban combat. You can also see one of my road tiles (using a cork tile) and part of my urban ruins. Still lots of work to be done - basing the figures, painting all the insignias on them, finishing the sidewalks; etc...

Bought a Baneblade on a sale (it cost me less than a LR) so I've decided to build it along with my old Shadowsword.

Here's the Shadowsword:

I was amazed how easy it was to build it. No gaps, no problems with the tracks, nothing at all (just a little mistake on my part, while gluing the fuel lines. Switched sides :\) Build time - 4 hours.

Of course I can't say the same about the Baneblade. It's got lots of gaps - specially in the junction between the top part and the bottom, the tracks just wouldn't fit  :o It took me a whole day just to assemble it...and then I decided I was going to put a bigger gun on that turret, lol... The final result...

Of course size matters, so why not make another turret (I had a spare one), with 2 guns?

Now I just need to finish the sponsons and the little details - hatches and such...

Here you go - more pictures of the double-barreled Baneblade.

And the barrels can be elevated independently

With magnets and a little plasticard in the space between the barrels. It's glued in a way that if a barrel goes up, the other just stays down and vice-versa - if I raise one, the other lowers. But I don't want them to be always on the raised position, that was only for the pictures.

I've always wanted one of those bigass GW tanks, but I have no idea where the hell I'd put it if I had one. lol

Still it doesn't stop me from wanting one! lol

So you can turn it into a Skullhamma?  The ork conversions of these are so cool.  The Waaagh forum has a bunch.  Those guys are scratch building geniuses, well some of them.

I wanna do up a Plague reaper version, but I'd never get to use it in a game, so I tend to paint things I might actually get to use in a reasonable time frame.

Cheers,

Ok, both tanks primed in Chaos Black and I'm going to start by painting the Shadowsword.

Just masked the tracks:

And then... some Tamiya Spray Light Sand:

Tomorrow I'll spray the bottom part and then more masking. It's going to be painted in Olive Drab with streaks of Light Sand. I'm trying to follow this tutorial:

Love the amphibious looking vehicle!

The Imperial Guard Chimera, an interesting vehicle, though GW recently dumbed down the model. It's a very nice amphibious APC, but looks big next to anything smaller than 'heroic scale' figures.
Everything is better with lizardmen.

Masked the tank again and sprayed it with Olive Drab 2:

After drying and carefully removing all the masking stuff (minus the one on the tracks), here's how it looks:

With less light:

From the side:

Now I'll go and try my hand at weathering again   :o

And now, for my next experiment. A IFV for my old Cadians because the Chimera is just too puny for my tastes, especially if compared with my superheavies. The M113 are very easy to find at good prices, so I decided to buy a lot of them. And it really looks it could hold a squad of Cadians (or 28mm miniatures) inside.

I've decided to reduce my plastic mountain a little so I can paint everything at the same time.

I've decided that all these vehicles I'm working on need protection against air threats. So I've started working on some anti-air heavies. The base is a 1:35 M247 Sergeant York from Academy (and I've got a Tamiya one). I've replaced the gun barrels with some chainguns from a Terminator Salvation toy.

As you can see, the barrels touch...ups...I'll solve that in the other tank. I don't want to unglue everything, sand the barrels and glue them again

I've also started some work on rivets for my other conversions. I'm using pin heads and I've spent 1 hour cutting them, lol.

And here are some side pictures of the IFV.

What do you guys think? I'll add the stowage rack to the turret to counterbalance the gun barrel   ;D
