Cheap plaza/summoning circle thingy at Poundland
« on: June 13, 2016, 09:32:29 AM »
So this is a garden stepping stone from Poundland. They come in several designs, including a compass rose and a sort of sun/moon thing. I got this starburst as being the most versatile.

I thought it would make a nice plaza or summoning circle. Here's a shot of it in action:

Looks to have potential.
Where is the square tower in the background from?

If it's home made, can we get a closer look?

Pretty sure that's a Mage Knight Castle Keep that's been repainted. It works great on it's own and you can still find them affordably for around 20 bucks. The gatehouse is smaller but quite a bit cheaper and even easier to find. http://www.trollandtoad.com/p104091.html

However if you want to build a whole castle you should know that certain parts of the castle system have become quite expensive.  On the positive side, it's plastic and prepainted.

It is indeed a Mage Knight castle piece -- and it hasn't even been repainted. I got it for a fiver from Squarehex at UK Games Expo 2015. I believe they were getting rid of old stock at that time. It comes in handy in a lot of games.

The stepping stone is some kind of plaster or something.

I have quite a few bits of the Mageknight Castle system. It is the straight wall sections which are the hard pieces to track down.

Yeah, around here there were plenty of wall sections for a while, but they all had doors in them.  Even a few years ago when we bought them and they were generally cheaper, the walls with no doors were at a premium.
