Highlight for GW Hawk Turquoise
« on: March 19, 2011, 05:14:06 AM »
I'm painting some of Eurekas Afghan rebels and I'm giving one turquoise track pants, the problem is I don't know what colour to highlight them with. Any suggestions? I have GW and vallejo paints.

Cheers
Stu

You could add white to it, and create a new hue of Hawk Turquoise. Highlight with that.

Thats what I'm thinking but I thought I would see what others say before I start throwing paint around.

That's wild! I only ever use Hawk Turquoise as a highlight...lol...
Like the rest, add some white.
Yearly painting challenges only show me how useless I am at painting...

Ice Blue works as a highlight to Hawk Turquoise - if you've got it. I use three layers - Scaly Green, Hawk Turquoise, and Ice Blue - and it's a quick way to paint the sort of colour you're looking for. No mixing of paints, which I love!

Add bleached bone, not as stark as White

I have a bottle of ice blue thats been sitting around for a while- probably rock hard by now, but I do have bleached bone and I'll try that (ended up doing scenery last night)

I litterally mixed a little bit of white with my Turquise each time, gradually building up the layers, and if it is silk for some reason, then at the end highlight certain area's with a little bit of pure white.
It's actually my favourite colour to highlight/lowlight, and also my favourite colour for almost everthing :P
