1866 Austrians!
« on: April 12, 2024, 10:01:16 AM »
Are there any manufacturers making Austrians for the Austro-Prussian war? I’ve seen lots of Austrians stuff for Napoleonics and ww1, but there seems an irritating lack of models for the period between. Any advice is much appreciated :D

Northstar have a fairly complete range for both sides. Eagles of empire do Prussians. Perry plasics have Prussians.  Cibo's Little Dudes do Austrians that may be suitable but a little chunky.

Northstar and Eureka both make them in 28mm.

In 15mm:
Old Glory 15s
Essex
Lancashire

I think there might be others
And the glorious general led the advance
With a glorious swish of his sword and his lance
And a glorious clank of his tin-plated pants. - Dr. Seuss

I've not heard of Piran's Warriors before. I was considering Austrians for a VSF force as something a bit different and they look like nice figures. They remind me of Outpost Wargames Services, whose Turks are great little figures. Thanks.

Thanks for the kind comments Roo. Cheque’s in the post😃🤣
Yes, we do Austrians for 1859 for the wars against France and Italy. We are slowly expanding the range and have Line infantry, jägers, cavalry and artillery men. They are not wearing greatcoats which they predominantly wore for 1866 but I tend to use them for that theatre of war for my games.
We are based in the UK
Cheers
Terry

I think Austrians are an excellent idea for a rather different VSF force!

Those Piran's Warriors minis look very nice indeed.
