CSS Kentucky (aka Skeered A' Nothing)

The powerful CSS Kentucky (affectionately known as "Skeered A' Nothing" by her crew) puts on steam as she prepares for battle. She is the first of a new class of fast, heavily armored warships that will make the Confederate Navy the master of the Gulf and Atlantic Coasts.

To see more pictures and the story of Kentucky's armor, weapons and other facts see:

To see pictures of the construction of the "Skeered A' Nothing" see here:

Thanks for looking,
Prof

Nice work.
"Fast" and "heavily armored" aren't normally used in the same sentence for ACW ironclads. Although I suppose 'fast' could be relative. :D

Relative for sure, most ironclads were rated at less than 10 knots, and usually never made their design speeds. So the old Kentucky at 15 knots , more or less, would have been very fast for her day lol.

Thanks, Prof!

You could have almost got away with simply scribing the lines for deck and armor, assuming soft wood.  lol

That said, marvelous job from those ''umble beginnings'. ;->=

Actually I did both, the main deck pieces are individual slats of balsa wood, while the casement is covered in sheets of wood that I scribed (by far the easier and better method :D) Thanks for the kind words.
