Title: Anyone make a good 30's horse-drawn delivery wagon?
Post by: FramFramson on June 03, 2017, 08:12:10 AM
I know there's a very crappy Lledo one and same again for Matchbox (only as a fire wagon or omnibus), but at the very least you have to replace the horses and driver, in which case you might as well buy a better kit if there's one out there.

I checked Sloppy Jalopy, Minairons, Dixon, Blue Moon, etc.

If laser cut MDF kits are OK for you, both Sarissa and Warbases have horse drawn delivery wagons.

As those are both very simple and don't come with horse or driver, I might as well make my own.

Several folks have horses and carters, but I wonder what the cheapest way to get some carriage wheels might be.

Front Rank make nice wheels in various sizes.

I used them when I made these plasticard Medieval wagons.

Warbases can also set you up with drivers: http://war-bases.co.uk/index.php?route=product/category&path=131_160

...and horses in various sizes and poses: http://war-bases.co.uk/index.php?route=product/search&search=horse

I have their Standing Horses - http://war-bases.co.uk/index.php?route=product/product&path=131_156&product_id=1222 - not painted yet, and they're nice solid clean sculpts, slightly bigger than Warlord's ECW/TYW cavalry horses, which feels right for cart/carriage horses.

4Ground has a sheet of lasercut wheels that could prove useful: http://www.4ground.co.uk/add-ons-19th-20th-century-wheels?search=wheel

Matt.

I've a few civilian bits to add.So there's no reason I can't add a Delivery wagon.

Ah! Well, I'd definitely order one of those.

Wagon would be similar to the Sarissa one, only with a larger rear wheel/smaller front wheel (looks a bit better and more useable for different periods). One horse is probably plenty.

Driver with a deliveryman's cap and generic long coat.
