Perilous Planets... My pulp science/fantasy miniatures
« on: December 30, 2023, 11:23:32 AM »
I'm slowly putting together figurines for a world inspired by things like classic planetary romance, Weird Tales, Planet Stories/Planet Comics, B-movies with long titles like "Invasion of the ... from Planet X", a bit of Space 1889 and other colonial space settings.

The two reptilian minis are from their Classic Fantasy Lizardmen box.
The tiger-man is a combination of a Dark Age Irish Warrior body with a Classic Fantasy Goblin head.

Sorry for the slightly blurry/out of focus photos.

Great idea and great minis! 1930s et 1950s pulp can be very inspiring for original aliens.  :)

I quite like the purple/blue lizardman and the kitbashed Irish/Goblin. Clever ideas, well executed.

Thanks, everybody!

The purple/blue lizardman was the first mini I painted after my return to the hobby :)

Local resident's association?

As others have said, lovely painting. I'm not familiar with the genre, but am I right in thinking the Blue and yellow figures are the same species, and the yellow has a form of helmet?

Teaming up against the colonial army, no doubt!

And making sure the trash is collected every Thursday morning.

It's a gas mask!

The minutes for that meeting would be interesting...

It's a gas mask!

That would have been my second guess. And very well executed, I might add.

The box has eight of those sprues I posted. There are enough heads of each type, so you can have 24 lizards in gas masks if you wish... From each weapon type, there is only two, so you can't have all of them with machine guns.

Good kit.

What an interesting idea! Be sure to look at the stuff from Hydra Miniatures. VERY retro Sci-Fi...I just bought my first 3 packs from them this week!

Amazing sculpts, yeah, this is very much my style  :o Thanks for the recommendations. Unfortunately, I cannot get stuff shipped from the US right now, but I'll save it for the future.

Which miniatures did you pick up?

Visions of several lizards having a fight and comments of
"Me take dakkadakka, you have pointy stick!"
"You break it. Me Dakkadakka...Ow..."

Great start to a very interesting project.
I love retro sci-fi with its mysterious denizens who could belong in a fantasy setting as well as in a rocketship. Intrepid heroes, brilliant scientists and nasty villains.
I'm looking forward to see which characters you'll add next and I hope we'll get to see them in action.
