Anyone happen to know where I can get some nice arabs on camels (and/or horses)?
Preferably in 'traditional' costumes like those from Brigade's WWI range...

Perry Sudan range...

I see the beja and the baggara, but not quite the look I'm after (Lawrence of Arabia-like). I may settle for the Sons of the Desert from Brigade instead....

Redoubt Miniatures do some Tuaregs and Riff figures in their French Foreign legion range as does Old Glory. I don't know what they look like.

The warriors of Islam camel cavalry, from BTD (http://www.black-tree-design.com/btdcat.php?ctry=uk&lng=gb&rangenum=13&typenum=148&qty=0&sub=&shp=&tot=) in their feudal range, is not bad at all, and (used to be) cheap...

Well, I'll be browsing around... Thanks.

Askari Miniatures (http://www.askari-minis.com) has some Touregs mounted on camels. They're 6 for US$21 which well priced to boot.

How are askari minis compared to other (size)?
I may be tempted, allthough the tuaregs are not quite, what I had in mind. I'm really looking for the traditional 'movie-arab' (Lawrence of Arabia, The Sheikh, Hidalgo). The Oil-sheikh-type, you know ;-)

In regard to their size, I was wondering the same thing. I was hoping you'd be the guinea pig.

I've not seen the Askari tuareg, but I have painted the Castaway Arts figures (which are nice).
It is worth reiterating that North African Berbers only look like Arabian Bedouin in the same way that Texas cowboys look like Canadian mounties, i.e. only if you don't know much about either one.
There's a shortage of good Bedouin figures. Tin Soldier and Battle Honours both make them, but neither are better than adequate models. And they are done in completely different styles, and look weird together.

Quite so.
Brigade's WWI arabs are nice, but only on foot.... Maybe I should try suggesting making some mounted ones on the Brigade yahoo-group...
