My 2024 Bought vs Painted
« on: March 05, 2024, 05:35:57 PM »
Last year my mini pile of shame felt massively overwhelming to the point it was making me miserable thinking of tackling it!

This year I've decided to log my painted vs bought minis with the hopes that I can make a substantial dent in the pile!

The idea is to just grab whatever I fancy (and a few bogey minis I just can't seem to get past) and make it look as serviceable as I can. Nothing fancy, just good old fashion tabletop quality so I can actually game with them.

Here's my start - 0 minis bought v 52 mins painted & 6 terrain pieces painted.

if you're doing something similar, how are you getting on?

Well done.
I have been trying to reduce my own Lead Mountain (range).
A lot, & I MEAN a LOT, has been sold on or given away, yet friends look at my room & say
things like, 'I'm not being funny but what HAVE you gotten rid of?'

I have increased my rate of painting while reducing the amounts I buy, see my thread.

Doesn't seem to have made a big difference, but I am happy. :D

You're thread's great! Fab minis. I also sold a bunch of minis I knew I was never going to use. Certainly helped lighten the pile!

Yep, those are from Conan.

I spent the last year a tad like has.been, assaulting the lead pile like a man possessed. Near Crimbo I realised I hadn't played with any of the toys, akk year!
I'll never make that mistake again.

Oh no! I'm lucky that i've recently started a new job which allows me to paint during the week and game on the weekend. Hopefully with painted minis!

My painted miniatures is about to hit my year goal in just shy of two months...but I also bought quite a few miniatures for a "new" project, so my overall plastic mountain has not decreased a ton.  I have made a lot of progress generally though with reducing purchases vs. painted.

2024 so far...

As detailed in other threads I really purged the lead mountain a few years ago. My painting has been sporadic for a few reasons but thanks to my improving health I have painted more this year than in quite awhile. I have been posting pics here:

By chance I have purchased nothing this year but no promises in that regard for the future.  lol

gamanrocks, a sound strategy to my mind. I've been following that formula for the past 8 years. I can't say my lead pile has been reduced by much, and I would never count the unpainted, but I have painted about 450 more than I've bought. It seems every year something new comes along to entice me into a new project or add to an older one.

BTW that's some very good "serviceable" painting.

Thanks folks.

Everyone's projects are looking great! Nice to see others who are in the same boat and coming up with ways to keep on top of their lead piles!

With March coming to an end, here's this month's efforts from me (with some badly photographed pics!)

I've had some of those for years so it's great to finally have them done!

With that done, I'm looking at 10 minis bought v 77 mins painted & 11 terrain pieces painted.

Excellent work! I like that blue and grey futuristic vehicle in the first post. What's it from?

Surprisingly I am over 100 minis painted at the moment!

All that I have left in my queue is the Heroquest boxed set, but I doubt that will last the rest of the year.  My FLGS started to get some of the expansions, but I can't get any of the expansions until I have the core box painted up.  I have standards.   lol

I'm at a good number painted this year, 79!, with very few bought. I think I'm having my best bough to painted ratio quarter ever. I'm on track to kill my annual goals early: https://wyrdstonesandtacklezones.com/2024-goals/

Newly painted minis/terrain Since Jan 1st:
