Drums along the Mohawk - Project Finished 6 Oct 16
« on: October 18, 2015, 03:30:30 PM »
After my French Foreign Legion project  http://leadadventureforum.com/index.php?topic=72065.0   came to an end at BLAM, I was casting around for my next foray and inspiration came from two related sources.

The first was a series of terrain built by Jimbibbly and Malamute shown at this thread. http://leadadventureforum.com/index.php?topic=81777.0  8) 8)

The second was playing Malamute's Muskets and Tomahawks game at BLAM.
http://leadadventureforum.com/index.php?topic=83408.0   ;D ;D   That was it I was hooked.

So the day after BLAM I combed this forum for inspiration and boy is there some fantastic stuff on here.  So having stolen copied a few, I present my next project 'Drums along the Mohawk'. The theme is taken from the great film of the same name starring Henry Fonda.

Also inspiration was sought from 'The Last of the Mohicans' with Daniel Day-Lewis amongst others.

and also 'The Northwest Passage' starring Spencer Tracy which defines Rogers Rangers for me.

Combined they seemed to offer me a whole host of visual images as well as a set of fantastic scenarios to be played out.  I already had a copy of Muskets and Tomahawks and decided that they were the rule set for me.

I wanted the game to be more about small bands of men rather than individual heroics.  I considered other sets including Song of Drums and Tomahawks and La Longue Carabine and they came close to what I wanted but I just loved the way M&T played especially with the side quests etc.

Next I began to assemble everything I needed to start the ball rolling.  Having taken some advice from Eric the Shed I bought a couple of log cabins from Pegasus.  The large one shown here will do the job.

Sadly the two smaller ones are a little too small and will probably be relegated to storehouses etc.

I already had a Perry's farmhouse which (of course) will need re-painting and basing.

A trip to my local hobby store found some wood to act as suitable fence posts.

Which a trial run saw turned into snake fencing and cross fences as shown here.

My bits box turned up some offcuts of blue foam, some cork bark, kapok and cotton wool.

And finally Ebay produced a ton of corn stalks from JTT to kick start my fields.

That should give me enough to start the terrain that I need.   lol lol

Next up will be a start of the terrain boards themselves.

Blimey, yes of course you are right. It definitely feels a lot longer that one week. lol

Don't worry I will run M&T at BlAM 2016 and also have a chance to play "Follow that Camel" ;)

Lots of stuff for great terrain.
I find that I enjoy making terrain as much as painting figures.
Look forward to following along.

Mine are still stuck in the garage.  They can wait their turn  lol

Hope you won't be disappointed.  ???

Thanks for the encouragement.  I shall check out the Najewitz site and see if they are suitable for N America in the FIW.  :)

No chance.  My philosophy is 'live by the post, die by the post'.  Besides every other thread has you two bickering like an old married couple.  Why shouldn't mine.   lol lol lol
