Oh, come on! You make even shit look good!
Lovely project. Amazing.

 lol
Cheers, Suber!

Excellent! A feral pidgeon couldn't have applied guano better, and they're the experts  ;)

Cheers, mate.
Plenty of 'em in our neck of the woods for reference.
 ;)

It looks amazingly real. I wonder how much research you did for this, and what anyone who saw you would have thought of the man stood looking at all the pigeon poo.

To be completely honest, all the research needed was done some years ago when we had a serious Rock Dove ( ;)) problem at the museum where I work.
'Undreds of the buggers!

Oh well done paul.  :-* I really like the random colour variation of the poo, I wouldn't have picked that, and shows that those flying rodents have a good balanced dietlol I think some streaks for the more watery diet avians will be a good addition, perhaps more of a white coverage underneath overhangs?

 lol
Thank you for that!
I will be going back and making 'improvements' to the mix when it is not so warm.
The paint is drying on the brush at the moment, so 'watery' poo is very difficult to achieve.
As for coverage under overhangs, there is some markings on the floor already, not shown in those bad pictures.
 ;)

Cheers, Guy!
Tolkienesque, you say.
Do we need to start scratching that itch soon?

Mason (Paul, if I may?). Just caught up on 20 or so pages of this (been awake since 05.00) and I have thoroughly enjoyed it. I really like the organic way your buildings develop, it's especially appropriate for this style of building. You have the sort of modular set up I would have loved to have done. Very nice work mate, very nice indeed. Cheers, Steve.

Regarding the 'organic' way, by this I assume you mean from the ground up (?) ...if so, it is just that I find it easier to make things this way as you can paint as you go and get into all those hard to reach areas.
It also has the added bonus of breaking the tasks down in to smaller chunks, ie. build a little, paint a little, build a little more etc. It makes it more fun that way (for me anyway.... ::)).
You can also make things up as you go along and keep adding bits if you are not committed to an entire build before assembly.
It can be difficult to stop adding bits to it, though, so be warned.

As for modular: I think that is the way to go with scenery as it makes it much more user-friendly.
Not being too genre-specific with builds is useful too, as trying to make things work in as many settings as possible is always a bonus.

Now, if only this weather would calm down a bit, I could get a bit more painting done.....

That's my take on terrain too. I've sacrificed a bit of 'realism' with my terrain boards to make them as flexible as possible (all the roads and rivers meeting in the middle third of the tiles for instance. I should post them up I suppose!). A mate of mine glues all his buildings to his boards but I leave mine freestanding so I'm not restricted.

Yes, by 'organic' I was meaning how you seem to work an area out and then add another stage to it. I like it; it makes for very characterful buildings that look like they've been built for a purpose rather than reproducing 'generic building A'. I'm a fan!

The Pigeon Poo Problem means that the local statues should be getting a dusting too...pigeons are either agents of the Evil Doers or Art Critics.

I've never thought the two were mutually exclusive!

Well, you should be doing exactly that next week.
I had better get it finished, hadn't I?

Careful, lads!
Are we not all, effectively, Art Critics on LAF...?
 ;)

The finishing touch!

Not quite yet, sir.
I had better get the 'finishing touches' done in the next couple of days, as we have a BIG game next week, involving three Witch Hunter warbands and some Chaotic enemies to slay.
Pictures will, of course, be provided.

Right, the bloody thing is finished!

Well, as finished as it is going to get before next week's game.
It is certainly usable now, but I do have to go back and add a couple of things.

It needs a weather vane, but I cannot bloody find the thing that I was going to use so I guess I will have to come up with another idea.

That and the removable railings for the 'roof terrace' are things I can live without for now, but will sort out after the game.

I can send the bill to the team that takes up residence, cant I?
 ;)

Anyway, here are a couple of pics taken rather quickly earlier.

I will get a few better shots taken and post those tomorrow.

I hope it passes muster...

Awesome Paul!  :-*  :-*  :-* That little chimney is fantastic, it gives it a very rustic feeling. Do you have any dove models? Can you find some on the interwebs... I think you need a few sticking their heads out and resting on the roof!!!!
