Strength and Honour at Salute 2024

We will be running a Strength and Honour participation game at Salute 2024 tomorrow of the Battle of Ilipa in 206BC. An epic 2mm battle with over 100,000 troops in it. This was historically a decisive battle for the Romans led by Scipio over the Carthaginians, and led to a collapse of their support in the Iberian peninsula in the 2nd Punic War. Come and find us and say hi or join in and play. We will be in the Lard Zone at the far end of the hall.

If you haven’t yet given this a go, this is a great opportunity to try out the rules.

Wow! What a busy day! Only a few blurry ones here. I didn’t leave the table all day but three fun battles played. Great to see so many enthusiastic players and talk to so many people. Thanks for dropping by!

Is it me or does Salute look emptier than it used to be? I haven't been for many years due to the high ticket price and the cost of actually getting there. Roll on Partizan on May 19th.

Thank you very much for hosting my buddy and I for the last game of the day. You are an excellent host (despite the obvious Roman bias  ) and have created a very enjoyable game.

Very impressed with the effect you have pulled off with the 2mm stuff.

I think Chris and I's fortunes may have turned when Pyrrhus left!   

@SJWi on the contrary I think Salute this year was the busiest I have seen for years both pre and post pandemic.

Tom, interesting. The photo seems to show a lot of room which is excellent in some regards. I just seem to recall is being very crowded and not a lot of room when I last went. Was the venue bigger this year?

The numbers were very high. It looks a bit more open because there was a large table set out which was a no show. The rest of the venue was really rammed though.

Well done Tom and Chris, not so much a pro-Roman bias as a pro 10 Year old bias. Thanks for playing along with my blatant favouritism to keep the youngster keen. It’s events like this that shape their interest.

Impressive looking game!

Just a quick question any adaptation for 206BC?
For now i didn't buy the rules, because up to now my collection ends with the fall of Carthage 
Plz give me a reason to buy another rule set

Yes quite a few minor changes - especially in the way the legions fight with velites and triarii as separate supporting lines. There is a supplement very near completion which will cover the period from 338-105BC - effectively Alexander the Great, Successors, Punic Wars and Macedonian Wars with a few new rules, lots of scenarios and a few more army lists.
